This practical nursing diploma program is ideal for those seeking an exciting career as a nurse. This program prepares students to take the NCLEX-PN licensure examination. Students will become confident and compassionate professionals, ready to perform critical functions in a variety of healthcare settings.

Upon completion of the Practical Nursing Certificate, graduates will be qualified to:

Students will acquire the technical skills required to perform as a Certified Nurse Assistant in various healthcare settings.

As a Certified Nurse Assistant, you will provide direct patient care with the supervision of a clinical nurse. This may be in long term care facilities, hospitals, clinics, home health care and rehabilitation centers. You will assist others with their activities of daily living and monitor vital signs.

The course provides an introduction to nursing terminology; medical abbreviation; the nervous system; nutrition for the older adult; wound assessment and management; ethics and standards of practice for nurse assistants; infection control; elimination systems; skin integrity and documentation. Students will also learn how to perform personal hygiene measures such as oral care, bathing, grooming and dressing patients under the supervision of a clinical nurse or instructor.
