The Florida Board of Nursing is the state agency responsible for regulating and licensing registered nurses, practical nurses, and nurse midwives. The Board maintains a database of licensed individuals that can be searched by license number or name. You can find this information in two ways:

You can use the Florida Board of Nursing license lookup to see if a nurse is licensed or has had a complaint filed against him or her. The state has also mandated that it must be made available to the public as part of their mission to protect the public from unlicensed individuals practicing as nurses.

The search tool allows you to search by name, license number and type. You can also enter in any combination of these fields for your search. Once you enter your information, click “go” and view results on the next screen (if any).

When searching by name, you’ll need to enter the full name of your nurse (last name first). You can also search by license number or type. If you don’t know which number is associated with your nurse’s license, then you will want to use their full name instead.

To search for a license by name, enter the first and last name of the nurse or nursing assistant in the spaces provided. You may also type in both names, separated by a comma (example: Johnathan Smith). If you have multiple names, you can try entering them all and then clicking on “Search.”

To search for a license by license number, select “License Number” from the drop down box and type in the entire number in question. If your license number is 13 digits long, you may leave off any leading zeros.
