ANHO’s goal is to train students to become valuable members of their communities, ensuring quality health care for everyone.
ANHO has many different types of training programs, including those for students interested in becoming nurses or medical assistants. These programs are available at 2 campuses located in New York City: Brooklyn and Queens; as well as online courses throughout the country via webinars or streaming videos from your home computer!
2 In ten years, there will be a shortage of over 1,000,000 nurses in the United States.
The nursing shortage is a real problem. A report by the Institute of Medicine found that there will be over 1,000,000 nurses in the United States needed by 2025, yet only about half of that number will be qualified to fill them. The problem is expected to get worse in the coming years as the demand for healthcare continues to increase and baby boomers age out of the workforce.
The reasons for this shortage are numerous: an aging population means more people need care; many nurses are nearing retirement and not enough new workers are coming into the profession; changes in healthcare have created new job roles and shifted expectations from nurses towards doctors or other medical professionals; hospitals have limited resources for training programs or paying overtime wages (which can sometimes be necessary for clinical rotations).
Not only does this shortage impact Americans trying to receive quality healthcare at affordable prices—it also affects those outside our borders who need access through foreign aid programs like Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) or Partners In Health (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève).
3 Traditionally, nursing students learn clinical skills on mannequins or each other before real patients. This is dangerous and expensive.
Traditionally, nursing students learn clinical skills on mannequins or each other before real patients. This is dangerous and expensive.
Mannequins are not realistic because they cannot breathe, bleed or react to pain in the same way that a human being can. They also have to be cleaned after each use, which costs money and takes time away from other important tasks like patient care.
Real patients are unpredictable and may not cooperate with their medical treatment or procedures as expected by the nurse-in-training (NIT). It is important for NITs to practice their bedside manner in order to develop confidence in dealing with real patients—and training on a real person will help them gain this confidence much more quickly than if they only work with mannequins.
With proper training before working with real people, NITS are able to react appropriately when things do not go according to plan during an actual procedure such as CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) because they have already familiarized themselves with how the body responds under such circumstances through simulation training sessions using mannequins instead of actual humans.”
4 Today’s nursing students are tomorrow’s healthcare providers.
As a nursing student, you are the future of healthcare. You need to be well trained and prepared for real life situations. Your safety is important and cost effective care should be your goal.
5 The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) reports a shortfall of nearly 80,000 nurses throughout the country.
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) reports a shortfall of nearly 80,000 nurses throughout the country. This shortage has been caused by a variety of reasons, including an aging workforce and low wages. If you’re considering becoming a nurse, it’s important that you know how your decision can impact your career options in the future.
The AACN states that there are many factors contributing to this shortage:
- An aging workforce—many nurses who began their careers in the 1960s are still working today. As they age and retire, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain enough staff members to care for patients adequately.
- Low wages—nurses often work long hours with few breaks when compared with other professions such as teaching or accounting. With such long hours comes less income than some workers would like; thus many potential nursing candidates decide against entering this field due to income concerns alone because they feel like they cannot afford being underpaid or not making enough money after all those long hours on their feet tending to others needs before going home at night exhausted from doing other people’s laundry all day long without any assistance whatsoever
6 Instructors often rely on private companies for their mannequin based training.
Instructors often rely on private companies for their mannequin based training. This is because mannequins are expensive, not realistic, unsafe and not interactive. Mannequins are also not available in a variety of sizes or ages.
7 ANHO strives to make sure students are prepared for clinical success from the very beginning by building skills in a safe environment.

- This is where the nursing assistant program comes in. Our curriculum teaches students how to care for clients with compassion, while also preparing them to take the state exam and become certified registered nurses with a passion for helping others through their career choice.
- You’ll learn about anatomy and physiology, as well as special conditions including diabetes, strokes and heart disease. Your coursework will include topics such as personal hygiene, feeding tubes and wound care—all while gaining hands-on experience working with patients in local hospitals or clinics.
8 Simulation software advances have allowed for greater variety and more realistic scenarios that prepare nursing students for real-life situations.
Simulation software has become an essential tool for the nursing profession, helping students learn in a safe environment while providing them with more realistic scenarios than mannequins or other students.
