The Accelerated Nursing Program at Rutgers University is located in New Brunswick, Newark, and Blackwood. It offers a 24-month accelerated program for qualified students who wish to complete the nursing degree in 18 months.

The selective admission requirements for the accelerated nursing program are:

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale
• A score of 265 or higher on the combined Verbal + Math portions of the SAT or an ACT composite score of 26 or above
• Two (2) letters of recommendation from people who know you well who can attest to your leadership skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups

Located in Camden, NJ – 1 mile from Philadelphia and 4 miles from New York City.

3. How to Apply

To apply, you will need to fill out the online application and pay the $55 application fee. All applications must be submitted by January 15th of each year (January 15 is also the last day to submit SAT or ACT scores). You can mail official transcripts from all colleges attended, including community colleges; however, transcripts need to be received by February 1st for admission for fall semester and August 1st for admission for spring semester.

The following items are required with your application:

• Official high school transcript or GED certificate
• Official college transcripts from all accredited institutions attended (including coursework taken at Rutgers University)

4. What is the Accelerated Nursing Program?

The accelerated nursing program is a two-year program that offers qualified students the opportunity to earn both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in 18 months. Students who complete the accelerated BSN/MSN will be prepared to be leaders in their field and have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide culturally competent care. The program begins with an orientation session for new students followed by 18 months on campus at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. This intense schedule allows students who are accepted into this program to earn their degrees during a shorter time frame than traditional programs, but still provides them with enough time for full immersion in their studies.

5. What are the Selective Admission requirements for the Accelerated Nursing Program?

Applicants must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 on their undergraduate degree and have at least one year of direct patient care experience in the healthcare field.

A GRE score of 300 or above is required for all applicants, with a minimum quantitative score of 150 and verbal score of 150. Applicants also need to achieve a writing score of 3.0 on the Analytical Writing section, which includes an essay portion as well as multiple choice questions. The analytical writing score can be retaken after you submit your application, if needed.

6. When do I apply to the MSN program?

The application cycle for the MSN program is open from December 15 to February 15, and closed from February 15 to September 15. The next application cycle will be open from September 15 to December 15.

7. How to Apply to the MSN program?

The Accelerated BSN program is offered to applicants who possess a baccalaureate degree and are interested in obtaining a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree at Rutgers University. The program is open to both U.S. citizens and international students who have graduated or will soon graduate with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be an undergraduate student enrolled at Rutgers University-Newark, New Brunswick, or Blackwood campuses for the first time for fall 2019; transfer students may apply during their final semester of study but must enroll full-time at one of these three campuses as an accelerated BSN candidate after graduation from their previous institution
• Complete all prerequisite courses prior to application submission date; official transcripts must be submitted by February 1st for fall admission consideration (see below for more info about transferring credits)
• Must earn a 3.2 GPA on all prerequisites taken in order to be considered competitively if applying during their senior year of college

8. What are the Supplemental Requirements for the Accelerated Nursing Program?

Each student must produce a TOEFL or IELTS score of 100 (IBT) with no fewer than 20 in any one section.

In addition to the minimum GPA requirement, each student is required to demonstrate interpersonal communication skills and research experience. Students are also expected to have experience in clinical practice, teaching, leadership or community service. For example, if you’ve taught a class at your local community college or volunteered as an instructor at an elementary school science fair — consider adding these experiences on your application where appropriate!

The accelerated nursing program at Rutgers University offers students a unique opportunity to complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a more efficient time frame. This is made possible through the school’s partnership with Cooper University Health Care and Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RUSOM), both of which are located in Camden, New Jersey.

The accelerated program consists of two tracks: one for traditional students who have graduated from high school or have earned their GED, and the other for non-traditional students who may have some college credit but never received their associates degree before enrolling in this program. For those who qualify as non-traditional applicants, they will take core classes at RUSOM while completing general education requirements at Rutgers University. Once they’ve completed three years’ worth of coursework at RUSOM with grades that meet minimum requirements, they’ll be able to transfer into the main campus’ accelerated nursing program where they will complete clinical rotations after completing four semesters worth of coursework covering topics such as pharmacology and microbiology along with courses about leadership skills needed by nurses working in today’s healthcare environment.
