ACPHS offers two paths to complete the PharmD degree.

ACPHS offers two paths to complete the PharmD degree.

Pathway 1: Students who enter with a BS or BA degree from ACPHS will be able to complete the PharmD degree in four years. This pathway is open to students who have completed an undergraduate major of their choice at another university, then entered the BS/BA program at ACPHS as post-baccalaureate (post-bac) students. Students applying as post-bacs must have completed certain prerequisite coursework prior to matriculation in order to take full advantage of the four-year pathway options.

Pathway 2: Students who don’t have a BS or BA may enter directly into the six-year Doctor of Pharmacy program and complete all requirements for both a baccalaureate and professional degrees in six years.

Your bachelor degree or equivalent can be in any field, but you must complete ACPHS prerequisites before starting the PharmD program.

Your bachelor degree or equivalent can be in any field, but you must complete ACPHS prerequisites before starting the PharmD program. The vast majority of students enroll as full-time students and complete the PharmD degree in four years. However, we do offer part-time options for students who meet specific criteria (please contact [email protected] for details).

While the school does not require you to complete a bachelor’s degree prior to enrollment, most competitive applicants for admission will have already earned one, or will do so prior to matriculation into our PharmD program. Students who have not completed a bachelor’s degree would be required to either earn their first bachelor’s degree within two years of entering the program at ACPHS or enroll concurrently in both programs and graduate from both simultaneously.

Undergraduate Applicants

Undergraduate applicants must:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent. If you are not a graduate from a U.S. high school, you must present evidence of graduation from an accredited institution and submit satisfactory results on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination.
  • Complete the pre-pharmacy curriculum prior to admission consideration, which includes the following courses:
  • General Education Requirements

Graduate Applicants

Applicants to the PharmD program who already hold a bachelor’s degree will be considered as graduate applicants. Students who have earned a bachelor’s degree prior to enrolling in the PharmD program will be eligible to graduate with their Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in three years.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required to start the PharmD program. If you already hold a Bachelor’s of Science (BS) or Bachelor’s of Arts (BA), you would enter the program through Pathway 1.

Pathway 1 is designed for students who hold a BS or BA in any field. The requirements for this pathway are:

  • A BS or BA from an accredited institution with a minimum of 124 credits, including all prerequisites and general education courses, OR
  • A completed BS from ACPHS (minimum of 124 credits including prerequisites and general education courses)

ACPHS offers both a four-year pathway for students who have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree, and a three-year pathway for students who have earned a bachelor’s degree.

ACPHS offers both a four-year pathway for students who have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree, and a three-year pathway for students who have earned a bachelor’s degree.

The four-year pathway allows you to earn your BS in Biomedical Sciences in the first three years of study, and then move directly into your PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) program to complete your education. This pathway is ideal for students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies but do not yet wish to commit to the field of pharmacy. With this option, you can earn your BS and then decide whether or not you wish to continue on at ACPHS or explore other opportunities. If you choose to continue on at ACPHS, you will begin the three-year Doctor of Pharmacy program.
