Belmont University is a private, Christian university located in Nashville, Tennessee. The school was founded in 1890 by the American Baptist Education Society as a women’s college called Ewing University. It became co-educational in 1957 and changed its name to Belmont College. The school merged with Harding College of Memphis, Tennessee in 1968 and moved to its current location on Peabody Street at West End Avenue near downtown Nashville. Belmont has an enrollment of 2,980 undergraduate students and 809 graduate students for a total student body of 3,689.

The essay should be about your goals, accomplishments and character. It should also be about why you want to attend Belmont University (including why you think the college or university is right for you) as well as how your background and experiences will help you succeed in our community. In addition, it may be helpful for you to consider how being a student at Belmont will impact your future career goals. Applicants from any major or area of study are encouraged to submit two letters of recommendation. It is important that you select individuals who can vouch for your character and work ethic, as well as academic ability.
