Just as the school’s name implies, Brigham Young University–Idaho is a part of the larger university system affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. BYU-I has been in operation since 1971, and it’s one of more than a dozen schools that make up BYU. While each school within the system has its own admissions policies and procedures, there are some similarities among them all: BYU requires you to have earned a high school diploma or GED before applying for admission.

BYU-Idaho accepts students of all faiths, but requires a commitment to adhere to the university’s Honor Code.

Students applying with transfer credits must have at least a 2.5 GPA in their previous coursework and meet all other admissions requirements for the program they are transferring into.

BYU-Idaho also accepts students seeking admission with transfer credits from another institution.

Transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, be in good standing at the previous institution, and complete at least 30 credits with a grade of C or better. They must also have completed 15 of their last 30 credits in residence at the previous institution.

• Complete the required entrance interviews.
• Submit an application, essay and application fee. Your materials will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee after they are received, but they must all be submitted in order to receive consideration for admission. If you have chosen to submit your college transcripts with your application (this is optional), please include them as well as any other documentation listed below with your submission.
• Complete a health history form and criminal background check if applicable (i.e., if you are transferring from another institution).
