George Mason University is a public research university located in Fairfax, Virginia. It was founded as a branch of the University of Virginia in 1949, and became an independent institution in 1972. Mason is located near Dulles International Airport and within proximity to Washington, DC. The university admits applicants on a rolling basis, so there are no deadlines for submitting any application materials. This means you can submit your application when it’s convenient for you—but don’t wait too long!

Students should also note that once they have submitted their application and been admitted into George Mason University, the university records office will assign them an official status based on when they were admitted—for example: “Early Action” or “Regular Decision.” This designation can affect what classes students get access to, so it’s important that students know what type of applicant they are before submitting their application!
