The admissions process at Georgia Southern University is designed to ensure our students are academically prepared for college-level work. We also want to make sure that each student has the proper resources available if they need help or have special circumstances. To get a better understanding of the types of students who are eligible for admission and what they should expect as they move through the process, read on!

1 It’s more than just a GPA.

You will need to submit a personal statement, resume, letter of recommendation, portfolio, financial aid form and application fee. Some or all of these items may be waived based on your circumstances.

The application fee is $35 for international students and $30 for domestic students. If you are approved for federal financial aid, Georgia Southern University will waive the application fee.

If you earned any type of military training, send copies of all records that indicate completion of basic training and/or advanced training in addition to any awards received during service time.

If you’re not sure about whether or not your transcript is sealed, contact the admissions office at Georgia Southern to find out if they’ll accept it.

4 If you’re in the military, you can submit your official college transcript and military records.

If you’re in the military and have earned college credits, you can submit your official college transcript and military records. This will showcase the strengths of your application. If you have been in the armed forces for less than four years, we’ll accept a maximum of 30 transferable hours (or 60 semester hours). If you’ve served more than four years, then we’ll accept a maximum of 45 transferable hours (or 90 semester hours).

Military service can be a great asset to any student’s academic record. In addition to earning credits that count toward completion of your degree program at Georgia Southern University, military service can provide valuable leadership experience and insight into how individuals work together as part of teams.

5 If you’re still in high school but want to start taking classes at Georgia Southern, look into Dual Enrollment.

One of the best ways to get started on a college degree while in high school is Dual Enrollment. This program allows you to take classes right alongside your fellow classmates, but you’re actually learning from Georgia Southern faculty who are dedicated to helping you succeed. The courses you take can count toward your degree when it comes time for graduation!

The best part about this program is that it’s offered at Georgia Southern’s campuses across South Georgia and Savannah, so there’s no traveling required (just set up an account with the university and start logging in).

6 There are many ways to check if you’re eligible for admission to Georgia Southern University.

To begin the process of applying, prospective students can visit the university’s website and click on the “Admissions” tab. From there, they can view a calendar of application deadlines and important dates for your specific school year.

If you have questions about whether or not you’re eligible for admission, contact an admissions counselor via email or phone. The admissions office also has a live chat feature where students can connect with staff members during regular business hours (Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm).
