• The University runs a competitive admission scheme. Although the University admits students based on merit, it uses a quota system to ensure that over 50% of its student intake are from the three northern regions of Ghana. The entry requirements for undergraduate studies are as follows:

> – A pass in each of the six subjects at ‘O’ level with a minimum grade D (or equivalent). Three subjects must be passed at credit level passes or better;

• Two other subjects must be passed at ordinary level passes or better.
• In addition, candidates must satisfy any other conditions as may be prescribed by KNUST; and
• Must pass an interview conducted by Faculty/College Board and/or Senate, where necessary.

Entry requirements into most programmes comprises six (6) credits in three (3) principal subjects and three (3) subsidiary passes in relevant subjects at Ghana Secondary School Certificate Examination (GSSCE), West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), General Business Certificate Examinations (GBCE), School Certificate or their equivalent, or credits in six subjects at the GCE O’ Level .

Candidates with a pass at the GBCE and have had two years post-qualification work experience may be considered for admission.

In addition to meeting the above requirements, candidates must obtain passes in Mathematics and English Language at credit level. A pass in Integrated Science is also required for some programmes. • For Pharmacy programme at the College of Health Sciences (School of Pharmacy), applicants must have credit passes in six subjects comprising three core subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus any other three from the following elective subjects: Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Agricultural Science.

The following are the admission requirements for students seeking to enter KNUST to pursue any of the courses in the school:

• Architecture The minimum required grades are: Credit passes (A1-C6)in three core subjects including English Language, Elective Mathematics and Integrated Science plus a grade D or better in Social Studies. In addition candidates must obtain A1-C6 grades in three elective subjects one of which must be Art or Technical Drawing.
• Building Technology C6 or better in 3 core subjects including English Language and Mathematice (Core and Elective), A1-C6 grades in two out of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science with at least a grade D or better in all others.

Applicants with four (4) credits in two (2) principal subjects and three (3) subsidiary passes in relevant subjects at the GSSCE, WASSCE, GBCE or Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) are however considered for Diploma Programmes.
