To apply for admission to the university of California as a freshman, you need to complete the following steps. Timeline Dates are subject to change.
To apply for admission, you must follow the steps below:
- Complete the application form.
- Pay a nonrefundable fee of $70.00 payable to UC by credit card or electronic check (ACH).
- Submit official transcripts from each high school and college or university attended at least six months prior to your intended term of entry. You must also submit all required test scores directly from the testing agency (ACT or SAT) with your application.

2. Create an account with your information containing your name and email address or using Facebook Twitter or Google account.

3. Fill an application form online and pay the required application fee.
You can apply online at the UC website. The application fee is $70 for all residents of California, but it’s free for residents who are eligible for an AB540 non-resident tuition exemption or California Dream Act. You can pay online using a credit card or by check or money order. If you prefer, you can also pay by credit card at a UC campus (with some exceptions).
4. Send your SAT ACT or AP exam scores to the university by selecting UC as a recipient College Board in its website before November 30th, 2017. The deadline for submitting official test results was December 15th, 2017.

You can send your scores electronically or via mail (this requires a fee). It is recommended that you first register for an account on the College Board’s website so that it will be easier for you to send your scores over time.
5. Send any required supplemental materials such as transcripts SAT subject tests or letters of recommendation with your transcript using third party vendors such as Phancier, Naviance Or Parchment before November 30th, 2017 by mail before December 11th, 2017 .
- How to send transcripts: You can either upload your transcript through the UC application, or mail it in. If you choose to mail it in, you must have it postmarked by December 11th and sent via FedEx/DHL/UPS or USPS certified mail with tracking information.
- How to send SAT subject tests: You must submit test scores for all exams taken within the last 3 years (5 years for Math II). Students who took the exam more than once must submit all scores.
- How to send letters of recommendation: Letters of recommendation should be submitted by an instructor or counselor who has taught you (or supervised your community service work) at least once over the last two years, ideally someone familiar with academic performance and personal qualities needed for success at Berkeley. It’s important that they know what makes you tick! For example if they were impressed by how well you were able to manage workloads while managing extracurricular activities then mention this as an example in their letter instead of just saying “I’ve been able speak at conferences before.”

- UC’s faculty are more innovative and environmentally friendly than their counterparts at UCLA, who only care about research grants and tenure track positions instead of teaching quality or being good citizens in the community that surrounds them.
- At UC you’ll find that your professors are more liberal than those at UCLA; whereas the latter tend to be conservative elitists who refuse to acknowledge global warming as a legitimate threat to our planet…
