Art Colleges That Don’t Require Portfolios

If you’re thinking about attending an art college, you’ve probably also considered whether or not to submit a portfolio. If so, you’re not alone. Many aspiring artists wonder if they need to include samples of their work in their application packet. The answer is no, but there are some exceptions: some schools require portfolios, while others don’t require them at all!

DePaul University

DePaul University is a private, coeducational Catholic university in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded by the Vincentians in 1898 as St. Vincent’s College for Women and College of Commerce, before becoming the present-day DePaul University with the merger of St. Vincent’s Seminary College (for men) and Loyola University (for women) in 1973.

DePaul’s two campuses are both located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago: its original Lincoln Park Campus is located on North Sheffield Avenue between Fullerton Avenue and Halsted Street; while its Loop Campus is located at 125 S State St along with other schools such as Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Columbia College Chicago School of Fine Arts & Music Industry Management undergraduate programs (music industry management).

If you’re not a fan of the idea of sending in your portfolio, but still want a bachelor’s in arts or design, Columbia College Chicago might be the perfect place for you. The school is located in the heart of downtown Chicago, just steps from Public School 132 and across from Lake Michigan. It offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees with an emphasis on visual media and design.

Columbia has been around since 1910 when it was known as Columbia College of Expression (or CCE). Students can earn their BA in Graphic Design or Illustration through its well-respected Department of Art & Design. You can also study film production at either the undergraduate level or get your MA/MFA through its School of Film & Television program. California College of the Arts

• The California College of the Arts (CCA) is a public art school that’s been around since 1907, making it one of the oldest in the country.
• The college offers eight different majors, including illustration, painting and printmaking. If you’re unsure about what you want to focus on, CCA offers an open-ended Bachelor of Fine Arts program that allows you to design your own major through a series of electives and studio courses.
• Students can apply for fall admission without submitting a portfolio when applying online—which means no costly art supplies or time spent preparing artwork for submission! However, if accepted into this program or any other at CCA with a portfolio option, students will need to submit one before starting classes in order to be eligible for financial aid

Academy of Art University

If you’re interested in an art school that doesn’t require a portfolio, the Academy of Art University is a good place to look. AFA offers Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees in a wide range of arts disciplines, including animation, design and media; illustration; interior architecture and product design; photography; painting; printmaking/graphic design; sculpture; Web design and new media. In addition to these degree programs, AFA also offers Master’s degrees in Liberal Studies (which allows graduates to specialize their studies by choosing from more than 90 different topics for their final project), Design Management and Visual Communications Management.

Maryland Institute College of Art

• Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is a small, private liberal arts college located in Baltimore. It was founded in 1826.
• MICA offers one of the most prestigious art schools in the United States and has produced many famous artists such as Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg and Jasper Johns.
• The students at MICA are taught by highly qualified professors who have received accolades for their work from all over the world.

National Academy of Design

The National Academy of Design is a fine arts college in New York City that offers Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees. It is a private school, and was founded in 1825. The National Academy of Design is a member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, which accredits art schools across the country.

The BFA program at the National Academy allows students to choose between three concentrations: ceramics, drawing/painting or sculpture/mixed media. A total of 60 credits are required for graduation with an emphasis on studio art classes such as painting techniques & materials; drawing methods & materials; printmaking processes & techniques; photography fundamentals; sequential art production fundamentals; traditional animation principles & practices; digital animation principles & practices; 3D modeling fundamentals and more!

Savannah College of Art and Design

• Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is a private, nonprofit, accredited university with a wide range of programs that include art, design, and architecture.
• SCAD has over 20,000 students and a low student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1.
• SCAD’s tuition is competitively priced at $36,816 per year for full-time enrollment (undergraduates), which amounts to only $2,664 per semester.
