The Arizona Board of Nursing (ABN) is responsible for issuing licenses to nursing assistants and nurses in the state. Nurses must be licensed to practice; however, there are several ways to apply for licensure through the ABN.

• You have been out of practice for more than five years.
• You are applying for a new license in Arizona and have never been licensed by the AZ Board of Nursing (ABON).
• You have previously held an active license, but it has been expired more than two years.

• Meet all of the education requirements for licensure in Arizona. If you do not meet these requirements upon approval of your endorsement application, you will be required to complete additional coursework prior to applying for a license as a registered nurse in this state by completing courses through an approved provider (exam preparation courses are not accepted).

Clicking on any of those licenses will take you directly to that particular record where all information related to their license is displayed including contact info, expiration date and more.
• Search by License Number: In order to view someone’s specific record in AZ Board Of Nursing’s database, they must have an active license number associated with their account in our system. You can use this function if you’re looking for someone who has recently obtained their nursing credentials or if there was some sort of administrative error made during registration which resulted in incorrect information being displayed for them on your screen when performing other searches like “Search By City” or “Search By Status”.

If you are licensed in another state, or if you hold a current, valid license from another state, but have been inactive for less than 5 years:

• You must apply for reinstatement by submitting an RN Reinstatement Application (PDF).
• You may be required to complete additional requirements as determined by the Board’s review of your application.

If more than 5 years have passed since your last renewal date:

• You must complete all requirements for initial licensure again before being issued a new Arizona license.

The documents must be official, notarized, and provide proof that you graduated from an NLNAC accredited program.
