ABOUT SINGAPORE BIBLE COLLEGE

Established in 1975, Singapore Bible College (SBC) is a full-time residential college and an autonomous member of the Asia Theological Association. SBC is committed to theological education that results in transformed lives and ministry. As part of our vision, we encourage ongoing development of courses, technology and facilities that equip students for effective ministry.

Faculty at SBC are dedicated to teaching with excellence and nurturing relationships with their students. A total of 27 faculty members from various Christian denominations teach classes on campus from Monday through Friday during term time, providing a student-teacher ratio of 8:1 and ensuring individual attention for each student. All faculty hold PhD or ThM degrees from accredited institutions and many have pastoral experience as well as experience teaching at other seminaries around the world. In addition to regular classroom instruction, faculty engage in research projects that bring new insight into class discussions. Professors also make themselves available outside of class hours for drop-in office consultations with students who need extra help on assignments or studying for exams.”

BIBLICAL HISTORY

The Bible is a collection of books written over a period of approximately 1,500 years. The Bible was written by 40-50 different authors from every walk of life: shepherds, farmers, tentmakers, physicians, fishermen, priests, philosophers and kings. Yet despite these differences the Bible has an underlying unity which defies human explanation: it is truly a supernatural book. The reason for the unity in the Bible is because it was inspired by God. Although the writers had their own writing styles and personality traits that were reflected in their writings (this can be seen in the four gospels), at its core the message of the Bible remains consistent from beginning to end: God loves us and sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so we can have a relationship with Him. Every writer wrote under divine inspiration so that what they wrote would be free from errors or contradictions and bear witness to Jesus Christ (see 2 Peter 1:21; John 5:39).

SINGAPORE BIBLE COLLEGE HERITAGE

The Singapore Bible College (SBC) Heritage Center is a part of the SBC. It was established in 1937 as the Far Eastern Bible College and Theological Seminary in Singapore, with the mission to prepare men and women for Christian service, especially for service among Chinese people. During World War II all the college buildings were destroyed except for one small chapel building. After the war, it was decided that since there was no longer a need in Singapore for a theological institution solely serving Chinese speakers, the college would move to Kuala Lumpur as part of a larger missionary effort serving people groups throughout Malaysia.

The Singapore Bible College (SBC), formerly known as the China Graduate School of Theology (Singapore branch) was founded in 1972 by Dr. and Mrs. Philip Teng.

It was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in 1982, and registered with the Committee for Private Education (CPE) in October 2007 and renewed under the Enhanced Registration Framework (ERF). The school is also recognized by the Ministry of Manpower for foreigners who wish to study in Singapore on a student pass.

SBC is an evangelical interdenominational institution of higher learning, committed to equipping people for ministry through Christian theological education, publication of books and magazines, hosting conferences and seminars, establishing church planting movements throughout Asia, providing counseling services and other related training programs relevant to contemporary contexts.
