There are many colleges in the US that have online degree programs. This list includes some of the best black colleges with online degrees.

Claflin University

Claflin University is a private, historically black university founded in 1869 to provide education for African Americans. The school is located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Claflin offers online degrees through its distance learning program. If you want to enroll at Claflin or another HBCU that offers online degree programs, here are some important things to know:

Fayetteville State University

Fayetteville State University is a public, historically black university in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The university was founded as the second school for African Americans to receive public funding in 1867. The school was originally named Howard University after John Mercer Langston—the first black person elected to Congress from Virginia—and later changed its name to Fayetteville State College in 1939. In 2006 it became simply “Fayetteville State University” and today has an enrollment of more than 7,000 students on three campuses: one campus features undergraduate programs; another offers graduate degrees; and yet another provides continuing education courses for adults interested in earning certificates or diplomas.

The university is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, an organization that provides support and resources to help HBCUs thrive.

Harris-Stowe State University

• Harris-Stowe State University is a historically black college and member of the United Negro College Fund.
• It offers online degrees in six different fields, including biology, business administration, journalism, psychology and social work.
• The school was founded in 1857 as a private institution for African-American students. It became part of the state system for higher education following the Civil War and gained its current name in 1985.

Howard University

Howard University is a private, coeducational, research university located in Washington, D.C., United States. Founded in 1867 by Baptists of color as the nation’s first non-segregated school of higher education for African Americans and founded on strongly Christian principles, Howard University was established to provide an educational experience that would prepare its students for leadership roles within the black community and in society at large. The university has grown considerably over its history and today consists of nine colleges: College of Arts & Sciences; School of Law; Business School; Graduate School; Graduate School of Education & Human Development; Law School; Medical Center Pharmacy Program (Pharmacy); Medical Center Physician Assistant Program (PA). Additionally, Howard offers more than 70 master’s degree programs through its professional schools: Business Administration/Health Management Systems ; Social Work ; Teacher Education ; Divinity , Interdenominational Theological Seminary .

Lincoln University of Pennsylvania

Lincoln University is a private, historically black university in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1854 as a seminary for freed slaves and their children, Lincoln remains one of the oldest historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the United States. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 1,000 students who study in over 40 majors and concentrations; it also offers master’s degree programs in education and business administration.

Lincoln University is unique within our ranking because it is not exclusively devoted to online learning like many other HBCUs on this list. In fact, only 11% of its students took classes online during fall 2017 semester—the rest were all on-campus attendees at its main campus in Oxford or satellite campuses located throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey

North Carolina A & T State University

If you’re interested in earning your degree online, consider North Carolina A & T State University. This public university is a historically black college that offers a variety of different programs—including bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as certificates—to students across the country.

North Carolina A&T was founded in 1891 by Julius Rosenwald (the former head of Sears) and Booker T. Washington (the founder of Tuskegee Institute). It was originally called The Agricultural and Technical College for Negroes; the name changed after its first president died unexpectedly two years into his tenure.

North Carolina Central University

North Carolina Central University is a public, historically black university located in Durham, North Carolina. Founded in 1910, NC Central has a large campus that offers students many options to pursue their degrees. They also have one of the largest student bodies in the nation with over 9,000 enrolled students each year and an alumni base of more than 25,000 graduates!

NC Central offers many online degree programs including: social sciences, business administration and accounting, computer science & information systems management, nursing and health care management

Prairie View A & M University

Prairie View A & M University, located in Prairie View, Texas, offers online bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration. The school also offers an online certificate program in criminal justice.

The university also has an online master of science degree in criminal justice that can prepare you for a career as a police chief or other high-level law enforcement position. It’s designed for students who have completed at least 60 semester hours of college credits prior to applying and have at least two years of experience working in public safety or criminal justice agencies.

Virginia Union University

Virginia Union University is a private, historically black university located in Richmond, Virginia. The school was founded in 1865 and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). It has a student population of 3,000 students spread across its five colleges: Art & Design; Business Administration; Communication & Media Studies; Computer Science & Information Technology; Education & Health Sciences; Engineering Technology: Civil Engineering; Engineering Technology: Electrical Engineering; Humanities & Social Sciences. The university offers degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels from its main campus in Richmond as well as satellite locations around central Virginia including Charlottesville (University Center at University Hall), Danville/Nelson County (Danville Technical College), Farmville/Prince Edward County (Farmville-Suffolk Campus) Highland County/Monroe

Winston-Salem State University

Winston-Salem State University is a historically black university in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The school offers online degree programs in education, business, information technology, and liberal arts.

The online program includes the same requirements as students on campus and focuses on student learning outcomes for each course. Students can choose from over 50 different majors at Winston-Salem State University. Most classes are taught by professors who hold doctorate degrees.
