Biotechnology – Living Environment

The Biotechnology program is designed to provide you with a broad background in the basic sciences combined with specialized courses in the field of biotechnology. The program encompasses a wide range of topics from biochemistry and cell biology, through genetic engineering and immunology, to environmental biotechnology and bioinformatics. It also provides experience in performing research projects within laboratories at Centennial College. These projects will help you develop the technical skills necessary for a career in biotechnology. Our labs are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that allows our students to acquire the practical skills needed for their future careers.

Biotech graduates will have knowledge and expertise that can be applied in a diverse number of fields including pharmaceuticals, health care, agriculture and food science, as well as bioenergy and environmental protection initiatives. Many graduates may find employment in laboratory settings either conducting or assisting with research or quality control testing or work directly for medical equipment manufacturers (diagnostics, devices). This program has embedded certifications such as WHMIS 2015, First Aid/CPR BLS Certified by Heart & Stroke™ Foundation of Canada and Laboratory Safety Awareness Training (LSAT).

Financial Services is one of Australia’s most trusted companies in the provision of financial services. The company deals with a wide range of financial services including:

This program provides students with theoretical and practical training in all areas related to the financial services industry. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of business and accounting principles, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the Canadian banking system, investments and securities, banking law, taxes and insurance. Students will also learn about international trade finance, corporate finance and international finance.

Computer Programming Analyst

The Computer Programming Analyst program is an intensive, hands-on course that teaches the skills needed to work as a computer programmer. Computer programmers write, modify and test programs for software applications and operating systems. Their work includes coding, testing, debugging, documenting and writing new software programs. In this program you will learn to design and code programs using structured programming techniques, with an emphasis on design practices. You will also learn how to use various software development tools and how to write documentation suitable for industry requirements.

Early Childhood Education (Accelerated)

Program Description: The Early Childhood Education (Accelerated) program prepares you for a rewarding career as an early childhood educator in no time at all. This one-year, College/University program will provide you with the specialized theory and practical experience required to work with children up to 12 years of age in a wide variety of child care settings. You will learn how to create environments that are safe, healthy and stimulating while developing teaching plans and implementing activities that promote the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of children. Upon successful completion of this diploma program, you will be eligible for registration as an Early Childhood Educator in Ontario under the Regulated Child Care Professionals Act, 2007 (O. Reg. 368/07).

Admission Requirements: Secondary school diploma or equivalent; or mature student status (19 years of age or older)

Application Deadline: Applications are accepted on a continuous basis throughout the year until all available seats have been filled

Tuition Fees: $2,972 Domestic | $7,842 International per semester; Mandatory Ancillary Fees: $734 per semester; Books and Supplies approximately $900-$1,200 for first two semesters; Program specific fees: $160 per semester ($60 for field placement insurance fee; +$100 application fee)

Early Childhood Education (Campus 2)

Centennial College’s Early Childhood Education program can be taken at the Ashtonbee Campus 2.

The start dates are in September and January.

To apply, you need to have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or be 19 years of age or older.

You should also have the following compulsory credits: English (ENG4C/ENG4U), Math (MCT4C/MCT4U), Biology (SBI3C/SBI3U) and a fourth credit from selected C, U, M or OSSD courses (see page 5 of Viewbook).

Tuition for two semesters is $6,572.

The duration of the program is three years.

After completing this program you will receive a diploma in Early Childhood Education.

Early Childhood Education (Ashtonbee Campus)

This program will fully prepare you for work in a variety of settings, including preschools and daycare centres.

A majority of the courses are pre-service, which means you will be in the classroom interacting with children and getting experience.

The College has three child care centres where students can practice skills.

Early Childhood Education graduates may find employment as nursery school teachers, daycare workers and before-and after-school programs staff.

Electrical Engineering Technician – Construction and Industrial Automation

Program description: This program is designed to train students in the technical, theoretical, and practical aspects of construction industrial automation (IA). Students will be trained on robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), computer numerical control (CNC) machines, motion control systems, vision systems, drives, and electrical drawing specifications. The program includes a work placement in which students will apply skills learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

Program details: This program is offered at Progress Campus. The minimum grade for admission consideration is 60%. If space permits, students may register in courses one week before classes start. Mandatory course materials may range from $1 to $999 per course. Some courses require additional costs for ancillary materials such as uniforms or first aid/CPR certification. Your studies will include everything from electrical theory to project management, allowing you to gain a mix of both technical and non-technical skills. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training, you’ll learn the fundamentals of C programming, computer hardware and network design, as well as how to install and service various types of electronic equipment.

This program is designed to improve your English language skills in order to prepare you for a university degree. You will learn the skills needed for academic study, including research, writing and critical thinking. Upon completion of this program, you will be ready to enter Centennial College in a degree or diploma program.

Advanced Language Proficiency Program (ALPP)

The Advanced Language Proficiency Program is designed for students who want to improve their English language proficiency and cultural knowledge to be successful at work and in further education. Students develop academic skills that help prepare them for entry into Centennial College’s degree programs or other post-secondary programs, as well as enhance career opportunities in the global economy.
