Colleges That Have Equestrian Teams
Equestrian teams are a great way to get involved on campus and build lifelong friendships. If you’re interested in equestrian sports, there are plenty of colleges that have equestrian clubs or teams. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite colleges where you can take part in an equine sport:
The Baylor University Equestrian Team is a club sport that competes on the national level. The team competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and the Intercollegiate Dressage Association.
One of the top 10% liberal arts colleges in the country, Centenary College is a private liberal arts college located in Hackettstown, New Jersey. The school is known for its diverse student body and commitment to experiential learning. Centenary College is also home to one of the few equestrian teams at NCAA Division III institutions.
Centenary College fields both men’s and women’s cross-country teams, which compete as part of the Centenary Conference as a member of NCAA Division III.
The equine club at EKU is a student-run club that meets once a week. The president of the club is Rachelle Goss and she can be contacted through email at [email protected] to learn more about the club or its events. The club has many events throughout the year, such as charity rides, fundraising for local rescue organizations, and grooming competitions.
The equine club has also had several members become involved with intercollegiate competition on their own in recent years including two students who were selected to compete on a national level team at their respective schools (including EKU). The equestrian team is a club sport at F&M. The mission of the team is to promote awareness of and participation in horsemanship, as well as breed appreciation for horses.
The goals of the team are to provide students with access to resources that will support their learning, encourage involvement in intercollegiate competitions, and educate members on equine related topics.
The vision of the team is to become an inclusive group dedicated to promoting horsemanship while advancing its members’ skills through education and competition.

Franklin Pierce University is a private university in Rindge, New Hampshire, United States, with a satellite campus in Doha, Qatar. Founded in 1954 as Franklin Pierce College by the New Hampshire Baptist Convention to educate Baptist students from across the state, the school was renamed Franklin Pierce University in 2001 when it began admitting students of all religious backgrounds. It is now organized into six schools: School of Arts and Sciences; School of Business Administration; School of Liberal Arts; School of Education; School of Health Professions and Studies; and School for Professional Studies.
The university offers more than 25 degrees at each undergraduate level (summer session included) through its four colleges: College or Arts & Sciences; Graduate & Professional Studies; Business Administration & Leadership Development; Allied Health Professions
If you’re an avid rider and want to compete, Gustavus is a great option. The school offers equestrian activities at all levels of the sport, including opportunities for beginners. Gustavus also has a strong community of riders who participate in regular events together, from trail riding to dressage shows.
The college’s horse show team was founded in 1973 by Dr. Denny Schnabel, who was working on his PhD at the time and had been competing for several years with his own horses before joining Gustavus as its first coach. He led the team until 1994 when he retired from coaching but continued teaching for another ten years after that; he now serves as an advisor for Gustie Equestrian Club (GEC).
- The HSCSA is the largest collegiate equestrian association in the world, and it’s based at Holy Cross. It offers several championships and scholarships to students who are involved with its events.

Holy Cross College, located in Worcester, MA, offers an equestrian team for students. This club sport competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), and is open to both men and women. The Holy Cross Equestrian Team practices at the Lamoine Equestrian Center on campus.
