An athletic trainer is a healthcare professional who helps prevent and treat injuries in athletes. Athletic trainers work with coaches, athletes, and other medical professionals to help athletes stay safe and perform at their best. An athletic trainer can be found working at any level of sport; from high school teams to professional sports teams, some even specialize in treating injured soldiers or airmen/women for the military!

The difference between an athletic trainer and other healthcare professionals can seem confusing at first glance—but it’s actually pretty simple once you learn what each profession does. Athletic trainers receive specialized education that allows them to work directly with athletes while physical therapists have more general training but still focus on helping people return to full health after injury or surgery. Doctors are required by law to complete medical school before they begin practicing medicine; however, not all doctors choose this path immediately after graduating college due their own interests in research or other specialties outside of clinical practice (such as surgery).

There are a lot of great programs out there, but you have to do your research. Make sure that the program you choose has all of the requirements for becoming an athletic trainer and fits into your schedule. They’re not all created equal! Make sure that you know what kind of degree program will best prepare you for this career path before signing up for classes at any university or college institution.
