Colleges That Offer Cpt From Day 1
University of California
The University of California system is a great place to start your CPT journey. The university has the largest student body in the country, with over 240,000 students at its 10 campuses. The main campus is located in Berkeley and offers a well-rounded education that includes undergrad, graduate and professional programs in nursing and medicine.
UCB also offers several dual degrees for students who want to combine their CPT with another field of study such as business or engineering.
Ohio State University
- Ohio State University is a public university that offers CPT from day one.
- The application process at Ohio State University is competitive, with the average GPA and GRE scores being 3.5 and 323 respectively.
- OSU has a student population of over 64,000, which means you’ll have plenty of classmates to help you along your way as well as access to faculty members who can help guide your studies.
Columbia University
Columbia University is a private Ivy League research university in New York City, United States. Columbia is one of the seven universities of the Ivy League, and is considered one of the most prestigious in the world.
Stanford University
At Stanford, the CPT program is a two-year master’s degree that allows you to complete your bachelor’s degree while studying abroad. The curriculum “combines the best of Stanford education with international experiences in another country.”
The application process for this program is highly competitive; only 50 students are accepted each year.
To apply, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 and be in good academic standing at your home institution (or have already graduated). You must also submit an essay explaining why you are interested in CPT, as well as two letters of recommendation from people familiar with your academic history and potential for success as a student abroad.
University of Southern California
If you’re an aspiring student who is enrolled in the USC Rossier Online program, you’ll be happy to know that CPT is offered from day one. This means that students can work on their CPTEs as soon as they start their studies.
The only caveat: You have to meet the following criteria:
- Be accepted into either a Master of Arts in Teaching or a Master of Education program through USC Rossier Online;
- Have earned a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution; and
- Complete at least 30 semester units beyond your undergraduate degree (including all prerequisite courses).
New York University
New York University (NYU) is a private research university that offers CPT from day one to students who meet the following criteria:
- They must be full-time students.
- They must be U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizen international students with a minimum GPA of 3.0
University of Pennsylvania
The University of Pennsylvania is a private Ivy League research university located in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Penn offers the CPT program from day one if you meet their criteria. The program is open to students from all majors and is only available for fall admission.
Dartmouth College
Dartmouth College offers the CPT from day one. You must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and you must have completed at least one year of college. You must also have completed a biology course and calculus course with a grade of B or better to be eligible for the program.
Princeton University
Princeton University is located in Princeton, New Jersey. It is a private Ivy League research university that was founded in 1746 as the College of New Jersey. It has graduated many notable alumni, including 27 Nobel laureates and 20 living billionaires.
It has been ranked 1st in the US by US News & World Report for each of the last 28 years (1987–2014), and has consistently ranked among the top five universities worldwide by Academic Ranking of World Universities, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings and Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities.
