The field of forensic science has grown in recent years, as more and more people are interested in becoming crime scene investigators, death investigators and other types of forensic scientists. In this article, we will take a look at some colleges that offer programs related to forensic science degrees.

Wayne State University

Wayne State University is a research institution located in Detroit, Michigan. It offers a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science through its College of Medicine and School of Natural Sciences and Engineering.

Students can choose from one of two options for their forensic science master’s program:

The Investigative Track focuses on crime scene investigation and includes courses like Advanced Crime Scene Investigation, Quantitative Methods for Forensic Analysis, and Experimental Techniques in Biomedical Research. Students in this track will also have opportunities to gain hands-on experience with real casework as part of the summer internship component of the program.
The Research Track provides an opportunity to pursue more specialized career goals by focusing on laboratory-based research within Wayne State’s Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM). Stanford University

Stanford University is located in Stanford, California. Stanford University is a private, research university. It is the oldest institution of higher education in California and one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. University of California, Davis

The department of viticulture and enology at the University of California, Davis offers a BS in Viticulture and Enology with a concentration in forensic science. The curriculum includes courses such as Toxicology for Winemakers and Criminalistics for Enologists along with classes that are specific to your degree plan.

LaSalle University

LaSalle University is a private, co-educational, Catholic university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. LaSalle offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business, education, health sciences, and the liberal arts.

LaSalle’s Forensic Science Program was founded in 2000 as the first program of its kind to be offered at a liberal arts institution. It is accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission and recognized by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS).

Elms College

Elms College offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science, a four-year program designed to prepare students for employment within the criminal justice system. The curriculum is designed to give students an understanding of the following:

Fingerprint analysis

Drexel University

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Undergraduate, Graduate and PhD degrees

Drexel University’s undergraduate program in forensic science is offered through the Department of Biomedical Sciences. The department also offers a graduate-level degree in biotechnology and chemical pathology. For those seeking to go beyond an undergraduate degree, Drexel offers Master’s and Doctorate programs in biotechnology (including forensics) as well as chemical pathology. In addition to these programs offered by the university itself, students can also pursue independent study options through Drexel’s cooperative education program once they have completed their first two years of studies. These courses are designed for students who wish to gain practical experience working with forensic scientists at local law enforcement agencies or private companies before going on for more advanced studies at Drexel.

Florida International University

Florida International University, in Miami, offers a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, Master of Science in Forensic Science, and PhD programs.

The undergraduate program consists of 120 credits with an average GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher. Students are admitted directly into this program each spring semester.

The Master’s degree is designed to prepare graduates for careers in forensic science related fields such as crime scene investigation and criminalistics after they complete the required coursework. The program can be completed on campus or online over two years if the student has already completed an undergraduate degree other than forensic science prior to starting their graduate studies at FIU’s College of Arts & Sciences.

For those interested in becoming academic researchers at the Phd level on topics related to forensic science there are currently no PhD programs available at this time but students may apply for admission through one of FIU’s other graduate schools such as Public Administration/Public Policy which have separate admissions requirements but offer some flexibility when it comes down to what courses one must take during their time spent completing their studies here at FIPROHS
