Helicopter pilot training is not something that’s taught in high school or college. In fact, it’s something that you can only learn through private flight schools and colleges. If you’re interested in becoming a helicopter pilot, this article will give you an idea of where to get your training from so that you can start working towards your dream career.

University of North Dakota

The University of North Dakota (UND) offers a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management. The school has an aviation program that includes flight training and a flight simulator, which is also used by the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC). In fact, it was with AFROTC that I was able to earn my pilot’s license while attending college.

The university even has its own helicopter flight training lab! The lab has two full-sized helicopters that allow students to learn instrument procedures and landings using simulators before they ever get into an actual aircraft.

The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Central Washington University

Central Washington University is the only university in the United States that offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management. The school’s aviation program is accredited by the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading, an independent organization that inspects and approves aviation programs around the world. CWU owns and operates several aircraft, including a Cessna 172, Piper Arrow PA-28R-180 Archer II, Cirrus SR20 G2 and Schweizer 300C helicopter trainer—the only one of its kind in any college or university in the U.S.

Central Washington University also has a flight simulator facility with three high-fidelity motion systems (dual Yaw Coupled) that can be programmed to simulate actual flight conditions for pilots learning how to fly helicopters as well as fixed wing aircraft like commercial airliners or military jets.

This degree can be awarded with an Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P) endorsement or without it; the former requires additional coursework but does not add any additional time to the overall graduation process.

McMurry University — Abilene, Texas

McMurry University is a private university located in Abilene, Texas. The aviation science program at McMurry University includes flight training, which can lead to careers as pilots. The National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities has recognized McMurry University as one of its members.

McMurry offers bachelor’s degrees in aviation science, as well as master’s degrees in aviation education and administration. Students who want to become pilots must complete 150 hours of flight training during their senior year of college.
