Department of Interior Design

The Department of Interior Design is located on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The department offers both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Interior Design.

The department has been ranked as one of the best interior design programs in the country by DesignIntelligence for three years running.

School of Architecture

The School of Architecture offers an undergraduate program in architecture that consists of 5 years, including a fourth year at the graduate level. The school is also home to an internationally recognized faculty whose members are committed to research and innovation. Students work directly with faculty members on research projects, which can be completed during or after their time at Cornell.

Students are required to complete thesis work during their final semester, including an oral defense before an appointed committee consisting of three faculty members from different departments in the college. They must also complete a design studio during each fall and spring semester (or summer term), as well as two other courses designated by their advisers. These courses may include design electives or seminars taught by visiting professors; they will vary depending on what interests students want pursue within the scope of their education in architecture

Department of Landscape Architecture + Environmental Planning

The Department of Landscape Architecture + Environmental Planning offers two undergraduate degrees, a Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS), and a Bachelor of Science (BS). The BPS program is geared toward students who are interested in pursuing careers as designers or managers in the field. The BS program provides more flexibility for those interested in graduate studies and research. Both degree programs offer the same set of core courses covering the fundamentals of design pedagogy, urban studies, cultural analysis, history and theory. Students also have the option to focus on either areas like planning & policy or sustainable design.

The department maintains its own library system with over 3,500 volumes on landscape architecture topics as well as an extensive collection related to environmental planning at UCLA’s Urban Water Research Center Library.

Admission Requirements: The department accepts applications from students who have completed their freshman year or higher at any accredited college or university with an earned GPA between 2.5-3.0 out 5; SAT scores between 980-1280; ACT scores between 23-28.*

College of Arts & Architecture

The College of Arts and Architecture offers a Master’s in Interior Design program. The master’s program teaches students to develop design solutions for interior environments, from the smallest details to large-scale projects. Students can choose from three tracks:

School of Art + Design

The School of Art + Design, the only one in the country to offer a degree in art, design and technology, offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts in art, design, and technology. The program allows students to explore concepts through their visual arts projects while also engaging them intellectually with design theory and technical knowledge. The curriculum includes courses such as Visual Communication 1A: Typography; Graphic Design 2A: Introduction to Photoshop CS4; Digital Imaging 1A: Photoshop Fundamentals; Web Site Development for Interactive Media 1A: Basic Programming Concepts for Interactive Media; Sculpture 3D Computer Modeling 3D Animation & Special Effects Visualization 4D Video Editing Motion Graphics with Autodesk Maya Maxon Cinema 4D Pro Motion Graphics Workstations (Mac) 6 hours per week minimum required*
