Broward College
Broward College offers a wide range of police academy courses at its Fort Lauderdale campus. The college prides itself on being a community-based learning institution, which means that its programs are designed to be more accessible and convenient for students who live in the area.
The Broward College Police Academy is an accelerated program that allows students to earn their associate’s degree in four semesters (or two years). Students who participate in this program can expect classes such as:

Indian River State College
Indian River State College offers a police academy that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The program is a two-semester, 28-credit hour program, which includes classroom and field training. Students must also complete an internship at the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office or with another law enforcement agency.
Students who successfully complete this degree are eligible for employment in various positions within state, local, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies.
St. Petersburg College
St. Petersburg College offers a two-year degree in Criminal Justice. The program is designed for students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution, but do not want to spend the extra time and money on additional classes. It consists of three semesters of coursework that can be completed in as little as one year or as long as two years, depending on how many courses you take each semester.
St. Petersburg College also offers an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice and an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice. These programs require 28 credit hours consisting entirely of electives such as Social Sciences, Law Enforcement Administration, Criminal Procedure and Juvenile Delinquency Prevention and Treatment Strategies; however they do not include any required core curriculum courses like many other common police academy programs do (i.e., Introduction to Law Enforcement).

Lake Technical College – Eustis Campus offers a Police Academy that can be completed in eight months. The program has been offered since January 2017 and is available to anyone who has completed the college’s criminal justice program or an associate’s degree in criminology.
