The University of Miami (UM) is a public research university in Coral Gables, Florida. UM offers undergraduate and graduate degrees through its eight academic schools and colleges: School of Architecture, School of Education, School of Engineering, Graduate School, College of Arts and Sciences, Honors College, Law School and Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science.

UM’s Haitian Creole program was started in the 1980s by the Haitian Creole Department. The program offers a certificate in Haitian Creole that can be completed within one year or less if all credits are taken at once; however, it is recommended that students take four courses per semester so they can finish sooner than expected.
