About Concordia University

Concordia University, Irvine

Concordia University is a private, non-profit Christian university located in Irvine, California. Founded in 1905 as Concordia Lutheran College by members of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, it is now affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The university was originally located in Boise, Idaho. The school’s name was changed to Concordia College of Boise when it moved to its present campus near Irvine and merged with another college (Irvine Junior College) that had been established earlier to meet the needs of local residents who were interested in higher education but could not travel far from home. In 1995, after having left the Oregon Conference several years earlier due to irreconcilable theological differences between its members and a desire to be part of a more diverse group of colleges and universities—notably those sponsored by other Lutheran denominations—the school changed its name to what it is today: Concordia University of Oregon. (And then again a few years later: Concordia University.) Since then it has experienced continued growth through both physical expansion and an increase in its student body size.

Concordia University has been accredited nationally by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges since 1969. It developed an international program in 1993 that allows students from over 70 countries around the world to study at one or more campus locations for one semester or longer while earning credit towards their degree programs back home; Concordia University was able to offer this program because under its charter it can grant degrees “from institutions within or outside the state”. With about 1,000 students on campus, Concordia offers undergraduate courses that allow liberal arts majors to focus on cross-cultural learning such as sociology, management systems applied toward global organizations, management information systems/business analytics, international business/marketing management…and much more!

What is GPA?

Grade point average, or GPA for short, is a term used to describe an individual’s performance in high school and college classes. Grades are given as letter grades on a four-point scale, with A+ being the highest mark. Students receive one overall GPA by taking all of their letter grades, converting them to a number on the 4.0 scale, and then dividing that sum by the total number of classes taken at that level.

Using GPA as a metric for success makes sense when you consider what it represents: how consistently students apply themselves academically over time. When applying to college (or while in college), you can use your GPA as proof of your academic ability and commitment. But what exactly is grade inflation?
