The Université de Montréal is the largest French-speaking university in Canada. It was founded in 1878 and has a total student enrollment of more than 46,000 students across all its campuses (the main campus is in Montreal). The university has five faculties, including law and medicine.

Concordia University is a private, non-profit Christian university located in Irvine, California. Founded in 1905 as Concordia Lutheran College by members of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, it is now affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The university was originally located in Boise, Idaho. The school’s name was changed to Concordia College of Boise when it moved to its present campus near Irvine and merged with another college (Irvine Junior College) that had been established earlier to meet the needs of local residents who were interested in higher education but could not travel far from home. In 1995, after having left the Oregon Conference several years earlier due to irreconcilable theological differences between its members and a desire to be part of a more diverse group of colleges and universities—notably those sponsored by other Lutheran denominations—the school changed its name to what it is today: Concordia University of Oregon.
