Students should meet the following criteria for admission:

GPA: Students must have at least a 3.0 high school grade point average (GPA). The University of Illinois requires no minimum GPA, but many colleges and universities will consider this information when making an admissions decision.
ACT/SAT scores: The minimum requirement for either the SAT or ACT is 1470 on the former and 22 on the latter. Test scores are not required if you submit evidence of your academic talent such as top grades at a competitive high school with challenging curriculum, advanced placement or honors classes taken in college-level courses, national awards and scholarships related to academic performance as well as employment during summer breaks that demonstrates leadership qualities such as responsibility and reliability. If you do not meet this standard for entry into university schools or colleges then requesting letters from teachers stating their positive evaluation of your potential ability is likely to be considered favorably by admissions officers in helping them make decisions regarding your candidacy.”

Credits/GPA for automatic admission to Urbana-Champaign:

You will need a minimum of a 2.5 GPA on all college-level courses that you’ve taken to be considered for automatic admission. If your GPA is below this threshold, consider applying as an alternate.

The University also considers your ACT or SAT score along with high school GPA, class rank and extracurricular activities when making admission decisions.

Application Deadlines at Urbana-Champaign

There are no deadlines for submitting an application to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. You will have until May 1, 2020, to submit all materials for admission. Please note that if you are applying for summer or fall term 2019 enrollment, different deadlines apply.

Deadlines vary depending on program and semester. As a general rule of thumb, international applicants should apply by November 15th; domestic students should apply by January 15th; and transfer students should apply by March 15th (if they are transferring from another four-year institution). These guidelines hold true unless otherwise noted in this document or on the university admissions website. The only exception is if you’re applying as a freshman who has earned 12 or more college credits—in that case your deadline will be May 1st instead of January 15th (for most programs).

Fall Semester – first-year students should submit the application by December 1, transfer students should submit the application by July 1.

Spring Semester – transfer students should submit the application by November 1.

If you are a transfer student, your first semester at the University of Illinois will be Spring Semester. This is true regardless of when you graduated from high school; all transfer students will start their college careers in the spring.

Spring Semester runs from January through May and includes classes such as Calculus I or Algebra. If you have already completed some of these courses, they may not be offered in the spring semester and your advisor may place you in an alternative course instead. That being said, there are still many math classes available that do not require previous knowledge of geometry (like Statistics), so don’t let this deter you from taking advantage of what UIC has to offer!

For the 2019 Summer Session, first-year and transfer students should submit their applications by May 15. Applications are not accepted after this date. We strongly encourage you to apply as early as possible so that we have time to process any additional documents that may be required before the next session begins (the earlier you apply, the more likely it is that we will be able to meet your needs).
