At Everglades University, you are able to earn your degree in aviation. There are three tracks from which to choose: Aviation Management Track, Flight Training Track and Professional Pilot Track. Each of these three tracks has a number of available degree programs within them as well.
Everglades University Aviation
Aviation Management Track
For students interested in pursuing a career in aviation management, Everglades University offers an Aviation Management Track that combines foundational business courses with specialized aviation education. The program is taught by industry professionals from the field and includes:
- A Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management degree
- A Certificate of Completion for FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification
- Flight training opportunities through the Pompano Beach Aero Club
Flight Training Track
The flight training track is for students who want to become a professional pilot. You’ll learn about all aspects of aviation, including meteorology and aviation mechanics. You’ll also be taught how to fly in different weather conditions so that you can safely take off and land your aircraft in challenging conditions.
Professional Pilot Track
This track is for students who want to become professional pilots. The curriculum takes you through the basics of aircraft systems, flight operations, and weather. You’ll learn how to navigate using GPS, how to fly in hazardous conditions at night or during inclement weather conditions like fog or rainstorms. Students will also learn about aviation regulations and procedures such as weight & balance calculations; operating an airplane under instrument flight rules (IFR); and calculating takeoffs/landings within airport airspace boundaries with proper clearance from air traffic control towers.
Bachelor of Science in Aviation – Aeronautical Science (Professional Pilot)
The Bachelor of Science in Aviation – Aeronautical Science (Professional Pilot) is a 120-credit program. Students can earn their degree in four years and are required to complete courses in calculus, physics, English composition and literature, general aviation studies, aerodynamics, flight training (general and instrument), avionics systems and principles, navigation system procedures and operations. The coursework also includes preparation for the Airline Transport Pilot Certification Test (ATPCT). Students will also learn about aircraft performance data analysis as well as flight planning.
Bachelor of Science in Aviation – Aviation Management
The Bachelor of Science in Aviation – Aviation Management plan is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in aviation management. The program provides students with the necessary technical knowledge, general education requirements and liberal education courses required by the FAA to obtain their Airline Transport Pilot certificate.

Bachelor of Science in Aviation – Flight Training
The Bachelor of Science in Aviation – Flight Training degree program at Everglades University will teach you how to fly a fixed wing aircraft, helicopter, glider and powered parachute. It also teaches students how to fly gyroplanes. The curriculum includes instruction on the theory of flight, meteorology and aviation safety as well as hands-on training in flight simulators and real planes. Students can choose from four concentrations within this program: Commercial Airline Pilot; Professional Pilot (Fixed Wing Aircraft); Professional Pilot (Helicopters); or Flight Instructor/Flight Engineer
