Iowa Student Loan
If you borrowed a Federal Direct Subsidized Loan, the U.S. Department of Education pays the interest while you are in school at least half time and during any grace period (for example, if your loan first disburses in December and your grace period ends in April).
If you borrowed a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, interest accrues from the date the loan is disbursed until it is paid in full. If you choose to pay interest on an unsubsidized loan before or during repayment, there may be tax benefits for some borrowers:
Direct Subsidized Loans – You can deduct up to $2,500 of interest paid on a direct subsidized Stafford or Perkins loan as long as all required documents are submitted with your return. The deduction is claimed when calculating adjusted gross income and is taken directly from taxable income; this means that it reduces take-home pay but not taxable income.

The majority of financial aid comes from grants and scholarships since these funds don’t have to be repaid at all (unless there was some kind of misappropriation). These funds only go towards tuition and other expenses like housing costs but not books/supplies or meal plans; those items would need separate funding sources such as loans or part time jobs while attending school here at UMDHSC Iowa City Campus!
The University of Iowa is a great school, and it’s one of the top institutions in the state. If you want to be closer to home while getting an education, this might be your best bet. However, if you can afford it and want something more prestigious then consider going somewhere else like Northwestern or Harvard instead because they have better reputations
