Tea is a widely consumed beverage. The tea plant is native to China, and there are more than 4,000 varieties of the plant. It has been used for centuries in Asia as a medicinal herb and was introduced to Europe by Portuguese traders in the 17th century.

Tea is prepared by infusion of leaves from the Camellia sinensis plant into hot water and sweetened with sugar or other flavorings. Tea can also be made from various fruits, flowers, herbs and spices; such as jasmine, chamomile or rooibos.

In the Reading Comprehension – 2 section, you will be given four short passages and asked to answer six questions based on what you have read. The passages are fairly similar to the ones you’ve seen before in this book, but there are subtle differences that can help you succeed.

The first two passages use a simple question-and-answer format to test your comprehension of the text itself. The second two passages provide a more complex series of questions that ask about not only what is written, but also how it was written and why it was written that way.

  • In the following passage, there are blanks, each marked “x”. Five words are suggested for each blank out of a list of seven words given in a word for word form. Find out the appropriate word in each case.
  • The [1] is free to use any means necessary to reach its goal, but it must always do so within the bounds of law and morality (i). Thus, if someone tries to stop you from doing something that’s legal and morally acceptable then you shouldn’t worry about him because he can’t get you into trouble (ii).
  • [2] means that if someone does something illegal then they should not be allowed to benefit from this action; they should be punished as severely as possible so others will think twice before doing anything similar themselves! This is why we have laws against theft: even though it might seem right at first glance because some people work hard while others don’t want them around anymore (iii), stealing isn’t fair because everyone needs money or food just like everyone else does!
