University of Applied Sciences

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is the largest vocational university in the Netherlands. Over 26,000 students and 3,000 staff members work together on a wide range of courses and research projects at four campuses in Amsterdam. The University of Applied Sciences has over 100 study programs across 21 departments, ranging from Biomedical Engineering to Social Work to Creative Business. It also offers short courses like ‘The Art of Entrepreneurship,’ or a one-week course where you can learn how to draw comics.

This is not your typical university where you’ll sit behind closed doors during lectures; there are no lecture halls at the University of Applied Sciences! All classes are interactive and encourage teamwork through their small-group teaching format and their modern campuses that offer plenty of communal spaces for discussion and collaboration.

Gerrit Rietveld Academie (GRA)

The Gerrit Rietveld Academie is an international institute of higher professional education offering courses in the fields of art, design and media. The GRA is located in Amsterdam South, close to the Van Gogh Museum.

The GRA offers a three-year bachelor programme and two-year master programmes. Its bachelor programme can be divided in three departments: Fine Arts, Design and Cultural Analysis.

In order to apply for this school, you need to complete a portfolio that shows your skills for the field you’re applying for (art, design or cultural analysis). Additionally, you must write up a letter of intent about why you want to study at this school and what your plans are after graduating from there.

Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is a public university of applied sciences with more than 40,000 students from over 100 countries, studying at its 13 locations in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. The AUAS has more than 100 courses taught in English and offers a wide range of courses spanning the fields of economics, finance, international business, logistics and supply chain management.

It shall be noted that AUAS is the largest institute for higher education in the Netherlands.
