It opened its doors to students in the fall of 1969 under its original name of Boulder County Area Vocational School. The college changed its name to Front Range Community College when it joined with Larimer County Junior College, which later became known as Aims Community College. By the mid-1970s, the institution added programs at Fort Collins, Loveland and Longmont locations and later expanded into Brighton and Westminster areas. Today, there are campuses located throughout Northern Colorado including an online campus for distance learners.
