African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards 2021 for African Scientists (US$1 million prize)

The African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards 2021 for African Scientists (US$1 million prize), is an award given by the African Union to promote science and scientific research in Africa.

The award shall recognize achievements of scientists of African nationality working on the continent or in the Diaspora, under the age of 40 years, who have distinguished themselves through outstanding applied research leading to significant socio-economic impact for Africa’s development.

The Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards consist of a certificate, a medal and a cash prize of US$1 million. The Award will be presented during the Annual AU Heads of State Summit in January 2022 at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

• be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person;

• hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard;
• not already have a postgraduate qualification at master’s level or equivalent; and not be registered for another postgraduate degree program.

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is pleased to announce the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in USA for study during the 2021-2022 academic year. Approximately 100 undergraduate students will be awarded scholarships to participate in a non-degree, full-time one semester or two semesters (one academic year) study program in the United States at one of approximately 50 host universities across the U.S.

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program promotes mutual understanding between Americans and citizens of other countries through educational exchanges that cultivate lasting relationships between participants and their host communities during an academic year of non-degree full-time study at American colleges and universities. GUE Alumni are expected to become future leaders who use their experience and knowledge to promote mutual understanding between citizens of their home country and the United States around the world.
