Ghent University is committed to encouraging everyone to excel. This extends to scholars. If you are making a study programme that starts in September, you can also apply for a scholarship at the start of your application process.

When you’re applying to study at Ghent University, you have the opportunity to also apply for a scholarship. In general, there are two types of scholarships:

  • Scholarships that cover your tuition fees. These scholarships are not awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. You can only apply for them when you are admitted to one of the programmes with a fee. If you qualify, those scholarships will be automatically allocated based on your academic performance and financial needs. There is no need to take action in this case: if you qualify for a scholarship, we’ll contact you by e-mail in due time.
  • Scholarships that cover your boarding costs:

Scholarships at Ghent University are provided by different faculties, many of which have specific requirements or conditions. You can view these directly on their website: English-language programmes.

In this article, we discussed the Ghent University Scholarship. This scholarship is provided by the Belgian university to encourage students to pursue higher education in Belgium.

Scholarship Brief:

Ghent University Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

The applicant must be an international student from a developing country and must not have a Belgian nationality.

The candidate should have good academic skills as well as English proficiency. He/she should be able to demonstrate that he/she has earned and collected the credits required for his/her previous degree program and has completed it successfully.

Ghent University Scholarship Amount:

1,000 € per month will be given as living allowance to cover their basic needs like accommodation, health insurance, visa costs and other related expenses. Also, an additional monthly amount of 392 € will be given for each of the accompanying children below 18 years old or dependent family member (for example spouse). Along with this full tuition fees will also be covered under this scholarship. The total value of this scholarship is 6,000 € per year but only half of it will be received in the first semester (3,000 €) while other half i.e 3,000 € in the second semester on confirmation of sufficient study results at the end of first semester with 60 ECTS credits or more having a minimum average grade equal or above 7 out 10 on your Master’s thesis or final report (if applicable) and updates on academic progress during first phase from Head of Master’s Programme .
