Fully funded scholarships in Austria are offered by the Government of Austria to international students.
Fully funded scholarships in Austria are offered by the Government of Austria to international students who, under a bilateral agreement, would like to pursue their studies at one of its Universities. The scholarship is awarded for pursuing bachelor, master or PhD degree levels in the field of Social Sciences; Natural Science and Technology; Humanities; Medicine; Art and Music.
The duration of the study period which is covered by the scholarship must be at least 4 months (one term). According to the Austrian legislation on foreigners (students) residence permits can only be issued for full-time studies.
A student whose native language is not English or German must provide evidence of English language proficiency by submitting an IELTS certificate with an overall band score of 6.0 or TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), 79-80 (internet based) before he/she arrives in Austria.

The Austria Government Scholarship is available for pursuing bachelor, master and PhD degree at Austrian universities. With the new scholarship programme, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) aims to attract excellent international students. Applicants should have good knowledge in German language as well as excellent academic performance and should be interested in gaining intercultural experience. The scholarships are fully funded – including an adequate monthly allowance, health insurance and tuition fees. The application must be submitted no later than January 15th on the website of the Austrian Agency for International Mobility and Cooperation in Education, Science and Research (OeAD). Please note that this is an online application form which only starts on November 1st each year! Besides the online application, a printout of all required documents must be submitted to your respective embassy until February 28th at the latest. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

In Austria, most people can speak English. However, they prefer to use their native language and hence they might not help you if you are unable to answer them in German language. It is recommended that you start learning the basics of the German language before your arrival in Austria. You can also opt for German courses after your arrival in Austria. How to apply for this scholarship?: Applicants must submit all required documents to OeAD-GmbH Vienna (see application form) by 15 January of each year.

- The application form is available on the website. You can download it now and fill it out, or wait until later. But you have to have filled it out before the deadline, or your application will not be accepted.
- The form must be filled correctly and completely; one spelling error can mean your application will be rejected.
- The form, as well as all supporting documents, must be submitted on time; missing deadlines means your application will not be considered.
The fee is $200 CAD, which you can pay using a credit card (all major cards are accepted). This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. If we do not receive your payment by the deadline, we will notify you immediately so that you can make alternate arrangements (such as paying with another credit card).
