The pre-medical program at Heidelberg has helped 41 students gain admittance into medical schools in the past three years. “This is a record number of pre-professional students that we have had matriculate into medical schools in our history,” said Mike Halasey, director of pre-med advising at Heidelberg. Pre-medical students are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities on campus and around the area during their four years at Heidelberg. These include chemistry, biology and physics courses. In the past three years, Heidelberg University has awarded 41 doctor of medicine degrees to students who have earned their undergraduate education at the University.

These 41 students reflect a strong trend in Heidelberg University’s pre-professional program, which is increasingly helping students gain acceptance into medical school and other graduate programs.

In addition to the 31 medical school acceptances announced earlier this year, four new Heidelberg University graduates have been accepted into graduate programs at the University of Illinois–Urbana Champaign, Michigan State University, Arizona State University and Howard University College of Medicine. Another eight earned admittance into professional programs including physical therapy, dental hygiene and nursing at schools such as Bellarmine University in Louisville; Lourdes University in Sylvania; Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine; Ohio Institute of Practical Nursing; Phoenix School of Hair Design; Stylz Academy in Cleveland Heights; Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUMC).

Additionally eleven students were awarded undergraduate scholarships or paid internships through organizations such as Teach For America (TFA), AmeriCorps NCCC Program and Vital Voices Global Partnership.
