Our aim is to train up Biblical leaders for the local church who are able to exposit the Bible and teach others how to exposit the Bible.
The Hilldale Fellowship is a free, nine-month program that trains Biblical leaders in the art of expository preaching and teaching. A Biblical leader may be a pastor, Bible study teacher, Sunday school teacher, small group leader, mentor or any other type of “up-front” Christian worker who needs to be able to accurately and clearly communicate the Word of God. The program meets Mondays from 6:00pm – 8:30pm at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church from September through May.
The purpose of this program is to equip the many up-front leaders in our city with excellent skills for communicating the Word of God expositorily and to teach them how to train others to do the same. Each participant will be asked to teach a portion of Scripture so that they may receive feedback as well as learn from watching their peers teach. Participants will also give oral reports on books relating to pastoral ministry and complete written projects throughout the year.
Hilldale Fellowship is based on the authority of God’s Word, the sufficiency of Jesus Christ in salvation, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Hilldale Fellowship is an evangelical, nondenominational church that seeks to share the good news of salvation through grace alone. We hold:
- The authority of God’s Word—the Bible—as our only source of faith and practice.
- Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation and the perfect sacrifice for sin.
- The power of the Holy Spirit who lives within all believers, guiding their hearts toward Christ’s purposes.
We are a friendly, welcoming community that appreciates honesty and transparency about matters both personal (like faith) and practical (like finances). This website reflects that fact by putting emphasis on what we believe and how we live out those beliefs in our day-to-day lives. As you read this website, please keep in mind that each member is free to interpret this information as he or she feels it applies to himself or herself personally. We are not accountable to anyone but God—and He is ultimately responsible for us, regardless of whether we choose paths the rest of us find acceptable or not.
We believe that all truth is found in Jesus Christ and His written Word.
For us, it’s all about our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, His revelation of Himself and His will to humankind. What we believe and how we conduct our lives as individuals and as a church are based on what is taught in the pages of Scripture.
We believe that God’s word is found in its fullness and correctness in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments in their original languages.
It is important to understand the Bible as the inspired and holy Word of God. The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments in their original languages are inerrant and infallible, containing everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). They testify of Jesus Christ who lived a perfect life, died on our behalf, rose again and is ever-living to intercede for us as our Advocate with the Father. It is God’s will that you read these inspired Scriptures.
We believe that the Holy Spirit has perfectly preserved God’s word and that it can be understood by any person who diligently seeks to know it in a truthful manner without error.
You can know that the Holy Spirit has perfectly preserved God’s word and that it can be understood by any person who diligently seeks to know it in a truthful manner without error.
This is because of the following truths:
- The Bible is powerful, sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). This means that all Scripture is useful for teaching us and correcting us (2 Timothy 3:16).
- The Bible is self-authenticating, meaning no other authority outside of it needs to be established in order for us to believe its message.
- God’s word is flawless and completely trustworthy (Psalm 12:6).
We believe that God is One-Eternal, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Sovereign, Infinite, Self-existent, Immutable, Transcendent Being-existing eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that God is One-Eternal, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Sovereign, Infinite, Self-existent, Immutable, Transcendent Being-existing eternally as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God without error in the original writings; completely trustworthy and authoritative in all matters of faith and life.
We believe in one God who has revealed Himself as a Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The unity of the Trinity assures that He is one God with three distinct persons. While sharing divinity equally each person has a unique purpose.
We believe that Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man (Jesus is one person).
We believe that Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man (Jesus is one person). He was not created, but is eternally one with the Father. He became a human being in order to reveal the nature of God and to provide the way for humanity’s redemption from sin through His death on the cross. Jesus was resurrected bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and will return again to earth.
We believe that Christ lived a sinless life on this earth fulfilling all righteousness as our representative fulfilling all righteousness as our representative Substitute and Redeemer.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Eternal Son of God and fully God, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life on this earth fulfilling all righteousness as our representative and substitute, died for our sins on the cross as both Priest and Sacrifice, was bodily resurrected from the dead on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father where He now functions as High Priest and Advocate
and will one day return to judge all men.
