University of Ghana School of Nursing
The [University of Ghana School of Nursing](https://www.ug.edu.gh/faculty/school-nursing) is one of the premier nursing institutions in Ghana, located at the University of Ghana campus in Accra. It was established by a group of nurses to meet the growing demand for trained nurses and midwives in both traditional and modern healthcare professions and services. The school was originally founded as a department within the Faculty of Medicine, but later expanded into a fully fledged faculty under its current name.
It has programs leading to Bachelor’s degrees in Public Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing and Midwifery, as well as postgraduate diplomas and master’s degrees in nursing administration, community health nursing, psychiatric nursing and maternal newborn nursing studies. Masters’ degree programs are also available in public health nursing education, family health care education (through both coursework and thesis/dissertation options), midwifery education (through coursework only) as well as surgery (by thesis or dissertation only).
