The Lions Club of Sydney Scholarship aims to assist people with a disability to participate in recreation, educational and sporting activities or to develop their workplace skills.
The Lions Club of Sydney Scholarship aims to assist people with a disability to participate in recreation, educational and sporting activities or to develop their workplace skills. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist with participation costs for either:
- Individuals (over 18 years) who have had a physical disability for at least one year;
- Children and young people up to 18 years old (or up to 21 years if they are still in full-time secondary education) who have had a physical disability for at least 6 months.
Lions Club of Sydney Scholarship
The Lions Club of Sydney Scholarship is a scholarship for students with disabilities. This scholarship aims to assist people with a disability to participate in recreation, education and sporting activities or to develop their workplace skills.
If you are under 25 years old and have a disability, you are eligible for the Lions Club of Sydney Scholarship. The scholarship may be used to support your participation in recreational activities, education or sporting activities, or your development of workplace skills.
In order to submit an application for the Lions Club of Sydney Scholarship, the following must be provided:
- A certified copy of proof of age (eg birth certificate)
- A certified copy of proof that the young person has a disability (eg documentation from your doctor).
This scholarship may be used for expenses directly related to participation in the activity, including transport, registration fees and support worker fees.
You may use this scholarship for expenses directly related to participation in the activity, including:
- Transport: travel to and from the activity.
- Registration fees: costs of joining a club or group.
- Support worker fees: cost of hiring a support worker to help you participate in the activity.
Other expenses that may be considered include accommodation and equipment (e.g. sports gear).
Who can apply?
The scholarship is open to young people living with a disability, chronic medical condition or illness.
To be eligible for the Lions Club Scholarship 2021, you must:
- Be aged 25 years or under as of 31 December 2020
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa; and
- Reside permanently in the Sydney basin.

You don’t need to be a carer. You don’t need to be studying or working.
What is considered?
The Lions Club considers the following factors when determining scholarship eligibility:
- The applicant’s relationship to the Sydney basin.
- The applicant’s disability / chronic medical condition / illness.
- The applicant’s age.
- The applicant’s financial situation.
- The applicant’s personal circumstances.
- The applicant’s ability to complete the activity.
All applications will be considered by the committee in accordance with the Lions Club of Sydney Scholarships Policy & Guidelines.

Applications must be lodged with the Scholarship Officer by 4pm Friday 26 February 2021 using the online application form. Late applications will not be accepted. The online application form is available here.

How do I apply?
To apply for the Lions Club Scholarship, you will need to:

- Attach your resume, a copy of your academic transcript, and a copy of your offer letter from university or TAFE with your application form.
