Medical University of Warsaw
The Medical University of Warsaw (Polish: Uniwersytet Medyczny w Warszawie) is a state-owned medical school located in Warsaw, Poland. It was founded in 1950 and is fully accredited by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Higher Education. In 2015/2016 over 2000 students were enrolled, around 2400 postgraduates were studying at the university, 1144 academic teachers worked there, including 212 professors.
Faculties
The Medical University has two campuses: one at Banacha Street in Żoliborz district, and another at Szaserów Street in Wola district. The former houses the following faculties while the latter houses all the remaining ones:
- Faculty of Medicine – Founded on October 13, 1950 as Second Medical Faculty (1952 renamed to Faculty of Medicine), it is one of two medical faculties constituting Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology (PJWSTK) since 2002. It trains physicians for hospitals and clinics with full curriculum lasting 6 years (12 semesters) for studies in English or 7 years (14 semesters) for studies in Polish language. Upon graduation students receive MSc degrees; their studies are completed with a final year’s winter session examination taken before a board composed of representatives from all faculty departments. They also need to defend their Master’s thesis before a public audience consisting mainly from their fellow graduates who are equally taking the exam that day.
- Faculty of Dentistry – Established on October 1st 1982 as First Dental Clinic Of The 2nd Medical School (1980 renamed to The First Clinical Department Of Stomatology), it is currently considered as one of three dental faculties constituting PJWSTK since 2002. It offers 5-years curriculum leading to MSc degree after successfully defending Diploma thesis which distinguishes its training program from those offered by other universities in Poland where such requirements do not exist.[citation needed]

Medical University of Gdansk
The Medical University of Gdańsk was founded in 1945. It currently consists of 10 faculties, which employ nearly 3,200 members of staff and train over 5,000 students. The university has 6 research institutes, a students’ scientific association, an academic sports club and numerous student organizations.
The university is the largest medical academy in Poland in terms of number of students and employees as well as a leading centre for medical education and research. The Medical University of Gdańsk is one of four universities forming the Polish Rectors Foundation.

Paul Stradins Clinical University Hospital
Hospital of Paul Stradins is a public medical institution located at the address: Slokas Street 1 in Riga. The hospital was founded in 1992 and has been operating for 23 years. This institution is one of the largest clinics in northern Latvia, where patients with various diseases are treated with cutting-edge methods and equipment. The hospital also conducts extensive research work aimed at modernizing medicine, developing new treatment procedures and introducing them into clinical practice.
The hospital’s list of services includes general surgical, orthopedic, plastic surgery, urological, gynecological and other operations. In addition to surgery here they treat cancer patients using chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy. Also within the walls of the institution there is a department of traditional Chinese medicine offering acupuncture procedures to support drug treatment. Thanks to this clinic it became possible to recover from many serious diseases without moving abroad or taking long-term courses of costly therapies.
Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Anatomy, Histology and Embryology
“The Department of General Anatomy, Histology and Embryology at the Medical University of Wroclaw consists of ten teams from four institutes, which include six research groups. Each team has its own coordinator who is responsible for teaching and supervision of the students. In addition to those groups, we also have a postdoctoral research group with three members [postdocs] whose main focus is rheumatology.”
