Milwaukee Area Technical College is a public technical college, providing associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates. Students find a variety of academic and career training opportunities in addition to enrichment classes. The college has four campuses serving Milwaukee, Waukesha, West Allis/West Milwaukee and Oak Creek.

Approximately 40 different types of 2-year associate degree programs are available at the college along with approximately 100 1-year technical diploma programs and dozens of short-term certificate programs focusing on specific occupations or career preparation for specific jobs.

Students who already have earned an associate degree from another institution may choose to attend MATC for their bachelor’s degree in several areas including Accounting, Business Management, Health Care Administration or Marketing Management.

Financial aid is available to those who qualify, and there are many forms of aid offered to university and college students including student loans, student grants, scholarships and even student aid from the military.

There are many rules and regulations surrounding financial aid, so it’s important that students understand them before accepting any finances.

The first step in understanding financial aid for college is to understand what it is, as well as its different types: Grants: Financial awards offered by the federal government or other agencies that do not have to be repaid. Scholarships: Financial awards based on merit or other criteria defined by each scholarship’s sponsor. Loans: Money borrowed from a bank or other lender that must be paid back at a specific time (and often with interest). Student Employment: A job offered by the school itself or through an external source (such as an internship) where you work part-time while enrolled in classes.

As part of the financial aid application process, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The FAFSA form is available on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov

After applying for admission to MATC, you must apply for financial aid each year by completing the FAFSA form as soon as possible after January 1st of that year; preferably before March 1st (for fall semester enrollment). We recommend that you file your federal income tax return early so you have the information needed to complete the FAFSA form. • Milwaukee Area Technical College is a public two-year technical college based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with additional campuses throughout the district. It serves the citizens of Milwaukee County, the suburban areas around Milwaukee and parts of Waukesha and Washington counties. MATC has an enrollment of 17,000 students, who can choose from over 200 associate degree or technical diploma programs.
