Scholarship is good
The value of education is something that I, like so many other young South Africans, grew up knowing. A good education opens doors, creates opportunities and expands the mind beyond the everyday. For me, it’s the best legacy my parents could have given me – and it’s one that continues to grow with every year that passes.
Because I never had a stable home life or transportation, my mom raised me in her car until she knew I was ready to go out on my own. When I left at 18, she gave me $50 which would last me only a few days. So when mtn offered a scholarship to pursue my degree at UJ (University of Johannesburg), it felt like a dream come true.
When I started at UJ in 2014, I was determined to do anything and everything to become successful in life. mtn’s support allowed me to really focus on obtaining my degree without having to worry about how my studies would be funded. The qualification that came from this opportunity has helped shape who I am today – and for that, as well as for the amazing memories created along this journey, I will always be grateful!
