The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is the U.S. Department of Education’s central database for student aid. The NSLDS receives data from schools, guaranty agencies, the Direct Loan program, and other Department of ED programs. NSLDS Student Access provides a centralized integrated view of Title IV loans and grants so that recipients of Title IV Aid can access and inquire about their Title IV loans and/or grant data. NSLDS service for guaranty agencies includes tracking reporting reconciliation support services for guaranty agencies participating in the FFELP loan program.

To access your personal information in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), you must first create an FSA ID at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/. Once you have created an FSA ID, log in to NSLDS Student Access by entering your FSA ID as your username and password.

The national student loan data system (NSLDS) tracks all federal education loans made by the Department of Education. Guaranty agencies are responsible for collecting monthly payments from borrowers and managing defaulted accounts on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Federal law requires that ED provide guaranteed financial assistance to eligible students at educational institutions who apply through a guaranty agency; however, it falls under ED responsibility to collect any unpaid amounts after a student has completed their education or dropped out without repayment plans in place with lenders providing private student loans

The NSLDS database contains information about all Title IV loans originated since July 1st 1995. The database also contains information about individuals who have been issued borrower’s rights under any Title IV loan or grant program since July 1st 1995.
