National University of Singapore (NUS) is a public university in Singapore. Founded in 1905, it is the oldest institute of higher learning (IHL) in Singapore, as well as the largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered. It also has one of the highest proportions of international students among universities worldwide, at about one third. NUS’s main campus is located in South-West Singapore adjacent to Kent Ridge, with an area of 115 hectares (280 acres). The Bukit Timah campus houses the Faculty of Law, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and research institutions such as Institute on Asian Consumer Insight (ACI); while its medical school was relocated to Mount Alvernia Hospital as part of a restructuring exercise.

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is ranked #1 in Asia and #3 in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018, a ranking of the world’s top universities in specific academic fields. NUS also has one of the largest research expenditures among all universities worldwide.

In addition to its global standing as an educational institution, NUS has also been widely recognized for being an environmentally conscious university. In fact, it was recently awarded with four stars by Green Mark for its sustainability efforts!

Number three in the world

National University of Singapore is one of the best universities in the world, having been ranked number three in the QS World University Rankings. The ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research quality, with a little bit of weighting given to student/faculty ratio.

The QS World University Rankings is a global higher education ranking service that ranks hundreds of universities across every continent except Antarctica.

Top five in the world for biological sciences

The National University of Singapore is ranked in the top five in the world for biological sciences and social sciences, which includes areas like economics, political science, sociology and psychology.

The university also ranks in the top ten for arts and humanities. It’s number one in Asia for these subjects.

In addition to its national rankings, NUS has also had some international success: it is currently ranked number one in Asia – but that spot could change depending on how other universities perform over time (just as NUS’s ranking might change).

Top ten in the world for arts and humanities

The National University of Singapore is one of the top ten universities in the world for arts, humanities and social sciences. In addition to its high rankings for these subjects, NUS is also ranked within the top 50 in five other subjects: biological sciences (33), medicine (46), chemistry (51), physics and astronomy (53) and mathematics (54).

This university has a strong research record with more than 3,500 researchers working across 22 academic departments. It was awarded with more than S$50 million worth of research grants from various organisations such as A*STAR and DSTA, among others.

Top ten in the world for social sciences and management

In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, NUS is ranked top ten in the world for social sciences and management. This shows that we have a great reputation in these two fields of study.

Social sciences is the study of human behavior, social groups and society. Management is the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of people and resources to achieve specific goals. Social sciences and management therefore deals with how humans interact with each other but also how they can organize themselves to achieve certain objectives through management processes such as financial control or marketing strategies that help them operate efficiently as a whole organization rather than just individual parts working on their own agenda’s
