Next Steps University Of Arizona

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Arizona! We’re happy to have you join this community of scholars and we want to ensure that you are prepared for the next steps.

Open your Gift Aid package.

If you are eligible for an Arizona income tax credit and/or a federal tax deduction, we encourage you to apply your Gift Aid as soon as possible. The University of Arizona will be matching donations at a rate of 80% up to $12,000 per year beginning in February 2019. This means that if you contribute $100 per month for 4 years (a total of $4,000) the university will match this amount with an additional 80%, making your total contribution $5,600!

To apply Gift Aid:

  • Log into myAZplanner and select “Donation” under “My Finances” on the left-hand side menu bar
  • Select “Make an Additional Donation” from the bottom right corner under My Financials
  • Click on “Apply Gift Aid” once you are finished entering information about what sort of gift aid program applies to your situation

Decide on your housing option.

Housing is a big part of the college experience, and it’s important to find a living situation that suits your needs. With more than 1,400 beds available on campus, there are plenty of options for students who want to live with other UA students or with faculty members. Students who prefer living off-campus can apply for an apartment or house near campus and still have convenient access to university resources.

Considerations for housing options: rent/utilities costs (including internet), proximity to classes and dining halls, access to campus events and activities such as movies in the park or intramural sports leagues. Some locations require students living there to purchase parking passes if they plan on driving their vehicles around campus; this may be an additional expense depending on where you choose to live with your friends!

Housing information sessions are held weekly during Spring 2019 at 5 p.m., so make sure you attend one before moving into your dorm room! You can also stop by our office located inside Student Union Building Room 217 Monday through Friday from 8am – 5pm if you have any questions regarding housing options offered at UA Tucson Campus Housing & Title IX Office during this session period (February 10th – April 15th).

Submit your Enrollment Deposit if it is required by your college.

If your college requires an enrollment deposit, you will receive an email from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to submit your deposit. You must respond by the deadline indicated in this email in order to maintain your offer of admission. If you do not pay the enrollment deposit within 2 calendar days of receiving this email, we may withdraw our offer of admission.

If you are admitted but decide not to attend, please notify our office immediately so that we can remove any holds on your account and allow other students who have applied for admission into the class a chance to accept their offer (if available).

Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you have not already done so.

The FAFSA is the starting point for determining federal student aid eligibility. A completed FAFSA must be submitted by all students who have not already done so. The FAFSA can be found on the U.S. Department of Education’s website at www.fafsa.gov and/or through a financial aid counselor at your high school or using the link below:

If you are offered admission and are selected for verification, submit all documents requested by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid as soon as possible. All requested documentation must be received before financial aid can be processed.

Register for New Student Orientation and reserve your seat in an upcoming class.

New Student Orientation is a mandatory event for new students. We recommend that you attend New Student Orientation if you are coming to the University of Arizona in Fall 2019, or consider attending if you are transferring between semesters.

New Student Orientation is held on the UA campus in August and is free to attend!

On myBama, you will receive access to MyPath beginning in early May following admission, which includes placement testing registration and advising appointments. If you have questions about any of these items, contact Academic Advising prior to registering for orientation at 520-621-8067 or advising@arizona.edu for more information.

MyBama is an online tool that allows students to view their academic progress and plan their future coursework. MyPath is a great resource for students to use in order to plan their future coursework.

MyPath allows you to:

  • Track your grades, units, and GPA
  • Review your degree audit
