Michigan Health Council Scholarship

This scholarship is aimed at students pursuing a career in nursing. It is not limited to Michigan residents. The program is open to LPNs, RNs, and APRNs.

When applying for the grant, you must fill out an application form that can be found on the MNA website. Along with the application form, a copy of your current resume and proof of registration in a nursing program must be submitted. Furthermore, two letters of recommendation need to be included in your submission packet. There are no specific guidelines for who should write these letters; however, each letter should address how the applicant’s educational pursuits are beneficial to their nursing career as well as how this pursuit will help better serve patients or advance patient care.

The amount awarded by this grant is $500 per recipient and may only be received once every three years by any individual nurse. It is also important to note that there are no restrictions on what type of education may be pursued using this grant; however, proposed courses must relate directly to nursing practice or clinical skills enhancement with direct patient care applications.

Deadlines for submission always occur on November 1st each year. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted for review until the following year’s deadline period has passed unless otherwise noted by MNA staff members

• The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program is dedicated to helping alleviate the shortage of nurses in medically underserved fields. The program pays tuition, fees, other educational costs and provides a monthly stipend to recipients who agree to work at critical shortage facilities (CSF) upon graduation.
• The Minority Nurse Faculty Scholarship helps support minority nurses as they transition from working in nursing practice to teaching nursing courses at universities. This scholarship is awarded by the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA). Recipients receive up to $25,000 annually toward their tuition costs while enrolled full-time in an accredited school of nursing with the goal of becoming nurse educators/faculty members upon graduation.
