Students at this school will be taught by experienced and knowledgeable experts, including some of whom are also researchers. In addition to the four-year Bachelor of Nursing degree program, the University of Alberta offers a collaborative program with Athabasca University that allows students to take their first two years at one of five separate college locations in Alberta. The last two years would then be completed at the University of Alberta. One advantage to attending UAlberta is that its nursing program is accredited by both the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing and the College & Association of Registered Nurses in Alberta.

MacEwan University is one of the largest universities in Canada. It is located in Edmonton, Alberta. The university has more than 20,000 students and offers more than 65 programs through six campuses and three faculties: Arts and Science, Health and Community Studies and Professional Studies. MacEwan University was founded in 1971 as Grant MacEwan College by the Alberta provincial government to provide basic education for students wishing to enter the workforce. In 1988 it became a publicly funded degree-granting institution known as Grant MacEwan Community College. In September 2009, it was renamed Grant MacEwan University (GMAU). It took on its current name seven years later in September 2015.

Mount Royal University
The Nursing program at Mount Royal University is a four-year, full-time course. It consists of three components: University General Education Courses, Nursing Theory and Clinical Practice Courses, and Practicum. In the first two years of study, students will take General Education courses that are required for all Bachelor’s degrees at MRU. These courses are designed to give students knowledge in areas such as humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
In the last two years of study, students will focus on their nursing specialization and complete courses in both theory and practice. During this time they will also participate in clinical practicums where they will work directly with patients under supervision to gain hands-on experience. The practicums can be completed at hospitals across Alberta including Foothills Hospital, Rockyview Hospital and Peter Lougheed Centre.
Northern Lakes College
Location: Northern Lakes College is the only institution of learning in Alberta with campuses in four different communities.
Tuition fees: About $2,000 per course
Admission average: 70% or above
Courses offered: students enrolled in the BScN program will be required to complete a total of 12 courses that include nursing theory and research-based practice, clinical practicum and elective courses across the curriculum.
Keyano College, located in Fort McMurray Alberta, offers several nursing programs for you to choose from. In addition to a Practical Nurse program and an Associate Degree in Nursing, the college also offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through Athabasca University.

- CHEM 101 – General Chemistry 1 (lecture) / CHEM 130L – General Chemistry 1 Lab
- MATH 000 – Foundations of Mathematics or MATH 010 – Precalculus Mathematics 10 (high school course). If you do not have either of these math credits, you’ll need to take MATH 030L (algebra) as well.
