The Swedish School of Textiles (Swedish: Högskolan för Design och Konsthantverk) is a higher education institution in Borås, Sweden. The school educates textile designers, textile engineers, and fashion designers.
It focuses on sustainable development within the textile industry and aims to strengthen the social roles that textiles have in society. During studies, students do not only learn about and experiment with materials but also focus on making contact with representatives from the business community as well as NGOs. The campus contains a restaurant run by students from horticultural therapy science as well as facilities for weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing and sewing.
In 2007–2008 there were 2140 full-time students enrolled at HDK – Academy of Design and Crafts and 155 faculty members.[1]
