RUC, Roskilde University

Roskilde University (RUC) is a Danish public university located in Trekroner, Roskilde. The university was founded in 1972 and has around 8,000 students. There are around 550 employees. RUC is one of the three Danish universities that teaches medicine, although medical studies are done at another campus in Køge, Sydhavns Torv 1-3. RUC is well known for its research and teaching of nursing education.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design is an art school in Copenhagen. It has offered education in the areas of architecture, design, conservation and landscape architecture since its foundation in 1754. The school has four departments: Architecture, Digital Design, Visual Communication, and Conservation. The Royal Danish Academy is considered one of the finest schools for both architecture and design in Europe due to its history and alumni. In June 2012 the school was elected “Cultural Institution of the Year 2012.”

The current director of the school is Kjeld Kjeldsen. The institution was founded by royal decree on 22 April 1754 under then Queen Louise Ulrike with a charter that states: “to encourage and provide excellent training to all students, irrespective of social status”.

Copenhagen School of Design and Technology (KEA)

Copenhagen School of Design and Technology (KEA) is a state-owned institution located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It offers education in the fields of design and technology.

Like many other institutions, KEA was founded on January 1st 1882 as a vocational school for working class women. Today it is a unique institution that offers both vocational and higher academic education within the field of technology at Bachelor degree level, as well as Master degree programs in business development and management.

The institution has three campuses: one in Copenhagen, one in Kgs Lyngby (just north of Copenhagen), and one in Nørrebro (also part of downtown Copenhagen). The main campus is situated centrally within walking distance from the centre of Copenhagen city.

There are a few other fees that you must keep in mind:

• Administration fees: Some universities will charge administration fees (covering enrollment and exams) of DKK 1,500-2,000 (~$230–300) per semester for international students.
• Accommodation costs: Finding accommodation is down to the student; however, there are many housing options available through the university or through private landlords. The average cost of accommodation is DKK 5-6,000 (~$765–915).
• Living costs: As an international student studying in Denmark for free, there are additional living costs to consider such as food and utilities which comes up to around DKK 8-10,000 (~$1,220–1,550) per month.
