New York University College of Nursing

New York University College of Nursing is one of the country’s best nursing schools, but also one of the most expensive. Graduates go on to work in some of America’s top hospitals, including New York University Langone and Mount Sinai Health System.

NYU College of Nursing offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, with offerings that include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Master’s Entry into Nursing program, an accelerated BSN program for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field, several MSN programs and graduate certificates, an RN-to-MSN program designed for registered nurses with an associate’s degree or diploma in nursing, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP). NYU College of Nursing also runs both a full-time and part-time doctoral program leading to either a PhD or DNSc degree.

• Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing is a part of Hunter College, which is one of the best public colleges in the country. This means that if you are a New York resident, you’ll be able to attend this school for next to nothing. Once you’ve graduated, you will have a degree from a top institution to show your future employers and patients that you have been well-educated and trained.
• History! Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing was opened in 1892 and is the nation’s oldest public nursing school (it’s also one of the nation’s oldest nursing schools). When it first opened, it was only open to women who were over 30 years old. It began admitting men in 1967 before ending its admissions completely in 1986. That year, it became part of CUNY as part of its systemwide reorganization and began accepting students again in 1993 with brand new facilities at Hunter College on 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues in Manhattan. The school now offers two entry options: an Associate Degree Program (ADN) or Bachelor’s Degree Program (BSN).

Molloy College Department of Nursing

Molloy College is a small, private college in Long Island with an excellent nursing program. It has over 5,200 students, one third of which are commuters. There’s a strong sense of community at the school, with many student-run organizations and clubs that provide support to the student body. Molloy College is well known for its exceptional sports teams in both men’s and women’s programs.

The Department of Nursing offers traditional undergraduate degrees at the baccalaureate and master levels as well as advanced practice degrees at the post-master’s certificate and doctoral levels. The BSN program is designed for students who already have a bachelor’s degree but not in nursing or other healthcare fields. Students will begin their nursing studies immediately in the fall semester of their freshman year, and there are no prerequisite courses required before starting this program. The program lasts four years (eight semesters) including summer sessions.

Long Island University Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Long Island University offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students can choose an accelerated, 15-month track or a traditional, four-year track. A prelicensure BSN is also available to students who have bachelor’s degrees in other disciplines and wish to enter nursing. The accelerated option is geared toward registered nurses with associate degrees who wish to obtain a bachelor’s degree. With this option, students take classes year-round during three semesters of 14 weeks each and one semester of 10 weeks. All options require the same core curriculum and clinical experiences, but the curriculum for each option is organized differently. Optional minors available include holistic wellness and gerontology health studies.

The Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Long Island University offers several additional healthcare majors through its Brooklyn campus: physician assistant studies, pharmaceutical sciences, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech/language pathology.

The school offers state-of-the-art facilities including simulation laboratories where students practice skills on lifelike patients before working with real patients under supervised conditions at nearby medical centers such as Maimonides Medical Center (Brooklyn) and NYU Winthrop Hospital (Mineola).

Long Island University has an emphasis on experiential learning through internships at local community health centers such as the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center (Brooklyn), Interfaith Medical Center (Brooklyn) and Stony Brook Medicine (Stony Brook).
