The online Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program is designed to provide each student with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for the NCLEX-RN Exam. Admission into the Online ADN Program is granted through a competitive application process. The Online ADN program offers two progression options. Students can choose from:

• Starting with an Associate’s degree in nursing; or
• Transferring credits earned at another college or university after completing an RN-to-BSN program at FGCU’s College of Health Professions. Students may apply to the Online ADN Program between November 1 and December 31 for admission the following school year. Please note that meeting all requirements does not guarantee admittance into the program as admission is based on a selective process.”

The online Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program is designed to provide each student with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam. Students will receive instruction on advanced concepts in nursing, critical thinking skills, pharmacology, medical terminology, leadership in health care settings and health promotion/disease prevention strategies.

The ADN program follows guidelines set by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and Florida Board of Nursing. This program satisfies requirements for licensure as an RN in Florida

• The RN to BSN option, which is for registered nurses who already have an associate degree in nursing and want to earn a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) through the RN-to-BSN bridge program.
• The Direct Entry to BSN option, which is designed for those who are not registered nurses but wish to pursue the BSN degree while working full time.
• The RN to ADN option, which allows current registered nurses or individuals with an associate of science in nursing (ASN) degree or higher to complete their initial level education at American University.

Admission to the Online ADN Program is competitive and based on a selective process. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to apply at least one month prior to our application closing date (December 31) as we will begin processing applications immediately after our deadline passes. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please note that if you are applying with less than 24 hours before the deadline, we cannot guarantee that your application will be processed in time for consideration.

The application process involves an online application, a medical history form and an interview with your preceptor (if applicable). Once you have completed these steps, we will review your application within two business days of submitting it. You must also pass an in person interview with one of our admissions team members before being admitted into any program at NCNM or CBRN Academy College of Nursing & Health Sciences

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in nursing is a two-year program that prepares students to take the NCLEX-RN exam, which is required for licensure.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) also requires all ADN graduates to complete a state board examination, as well as a national board certification exam.
